Are you getting a tax refund and if so, how are you spending it?
I was fortunate enough to get a small refund this year.
Was enough that I was able to pay the utilities up a month, put some (much needed) struts on my car, do some fix up on my daughters car, pay off a Dr. bill, stock up on a few groceries...my contribution to stimulate the economy?
I bought a new microwave. Mine finally went out.
However...when I was shopping I noticed some big ticket items being purchased so I figure that some people are spending their money stimulating...while some will spend their money surviving.

1. one of those gigantic TVs and a new Escalade...
seriously, I won't be getting a refund. I don't make enough to really pay much in the way of taxes.

2. I expect my income to take a dive this year
so I'll be banking it and hoping I don't have to watch my savings dwindle to nothing the way I did the last time I got poor quick.

My water heater is making alarming noises, though, and a CO detector placed anywhere close to it is alarming (note to self, don't hang out in the laundry room for long) so I think that will probably eat it up and more. I'm going tankless.

17. The CO? The heater is in a very drafty space
and the CO detector barely chirps in the adjoining room and only when the wind is from exactly the right direction.

Hey, at least I'm smart enough to have a CO detector.

9. Go on craigslist
I have seen 60" big screen TVs (not LCD, but rear projection models that weigh 400 pounds) for $100.

I should get a decent rebate, but I'll probably just pay off some of my student loans with it.

7. Probably about the same as last year
Mine will probably be about the same as last year, maybe a little less this year because I sold some stock I had in the company I worked for and because I got paid a little bit more. I haven't done my taxes yet. Some of it will probably go to the state of Iowa for a little white sticker to put on my license plate this year.

8. I'm amazed we're getting any
but what we get I'm using to pay off the hubby's credit card and then buy some insulation. The rest will go in savings and to pay what we owe Bama. I always owe Bama money. This year it's a lot. :(

10. We just figured it out...about $2200, less the $400 we have to pay
to the state. It will most likely go towards some medical bills for an upcoming surgery.
