i voted for Obama. I campaigned for him: knocked on doors, phone calls, emails, battling with family and coworkers about why he was the best candidate. i had an election day party for poll workers and fellow campaigners. i was involved, day by day, as where many of you i assume. NOW WHAT. besides the activist work i do for health care (HR 676) and the Employee Free Choice Act, i really cannot offer direct support to our president.
this is kind of sicking to sit here and watch the republicans and other conservatives already circling the wagons ready to fight for the GOP blather of small government and more tax cuts trying to stop obama's stimulus plan. i mean, i just realized siting here, this may be naive, but i really do not have anything i can do to support our president. what i was doing for him campaigning was making a difference, but now i'm sitting here watching the white-bread 6 figured(+) republicans talking nonsense and i cannot do a damn thing. sure, i send emails from activist sites and his site supporting him, but what else can i do. what more can any of us do... is our political control out of our hands now. i know i am not alone. what are all of you doing. . how can we keep the movement, moving. this is crazy. are we really helpless now and at the mercy of our politicians.
i know that if we the people organized and showed up on the white house's front door and asked to talk to our favorite republicans, we would be heard....well, how can progressives and Democrats keep the fire burning. i think i am having post-election withdrawals. post-election stress syndrome....suggestions anyone.
