4. How do I get to this alternate universe?
Do I have to go back to 1882 and step on a fly in Mongolia, or something? Sign me up!

7. Oh I get it - THIS is the alternate universe!
So, when does Capt Kirk show up to prevent Edith Keeler from being saved - thus breaking his heart & restoring the proper time line?

10. Dunno. But he'd better show up fast. And he can start by convincing FDR to hang Prescott Bush and
his pals for treason, when we had the chance to stop these Nazis, and before we gave them the CIA to fufill their wildest Nazi-Bushie Dreams without interference.

9. We ended up in this one because we forgot that we were citizens and let the aristocrats tell us we

were consumers.

THEN we went out and acted like consumers, which is to say apathetic slaves unworthy of the gift of freedom.

That goes for pretty much all of us, including me.

Meanwhile, through the process of corporatization and the creation of the Bush Sub-Media, the American Mainstream Media was turned into a global laughingstock with the same essential function as the 1970s Soviet Media...to lie to the gullible and confuse the easily confusable. Our own Democratic Leadership either was clueless to what was going on or didn't mind it, because in two short decades the entire National Mind of our nation was driven insane, our entire national Dialogue reduced to a party of shit-throwing chimpanzees.

That's the short story, at least some salient parts of it.

And who is ultimately to blame, beyond the obvious Bushie criminals and tyrants who actually committed the crimes.

You and me and everyone we know and everyone we meet.

We are, Obama's election notwithstanding, the generation of Americans most ready to submit to slavery, so long as it is presented with "plausible deniability". We are, Obama's election notwithstanding, the generation of Americans that absolutely could have traded shoes with the 1930s Germans and happily vaulted Hitler into power, all while munching Cheetos in front of the TV.

Harsh? Truth always is.

Maybe Obama can fix it, but how can he change the vast majority of the American Subject Populace, so weak-minded, so binary-thinking and capable of little else, so insulated and callous, into people who even give two shits about the Constitution or freedom? Wave a magic wand?

I wish him luck, but it is a daunting, if not impossible task. How do you get a people who don't understand freedom and don't really care for freedom to suddenly become liberty-loving patriots?

I don't think you can, but who knows. Obama is a special guy, but is he or anyone THAT special?

We're about to find out.

8. I still want the portal to the alternate universe
where none of the soul-searching is necessary because Al Gore just finished his 2nd term (sans Lieberman).

11. Here's my guess: In that alternate universe, Lieberman is a liberal
He would see his route to success as being a strong and loyal VP to President Gore.

What, some of you Lieberman-bashers think he would've adhered to (right-wing) principles at the cost of his own career? Ha ha ha ha ha! No, he'd be right in the forefront of those denouncing the Republican opposition for proposing various harebrained military adventures.
