Vatican accuses Obama of 'arrogance' - Times of India
I would bet that the use of birth control, that is damned by the Vatican, prevents more abortions than all of the "pro-life" efforts combined.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/World/Vatican_accuses_Obama_of_arrogance/articleshow/4027443.cms

ROME: A senior Vatican official on Saturday attacked US President Barack Obama for "arrogance" for overturning a ban on state funding for
family-planning groups that carry out or facilitate abortions overseas.

It is "the arrogance of someone who believes they are right, in signing a decree which will open the door to abortion and thus to the destruction of human life," Archbishop Rino Fisichella was quoted as saying by the Corriere della Sera daily.

Fisichella is president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, one of a number of so-called pontifical academies which are formed by or under the direction of the Holy See.

The order won Obama praise from Democratic lawmakers, family planning and women's rights groups but drew angry condemnation from pro-life organisations and Republicans.

More than 250 health and human rights organisations from around the world sent Obama a letter, thanking him for ending a policy "which has contributed to the deaths and injuries of countless women and girls."

no more, no less. Internal Vatican politics now is all about the Vatican in their view, a 180 from what it was last century. Fisichella just wants that promotion to Cardinal as soon as possible.

ETA: And it would make sense since most of them have no ability to empathize, and projection is in some ways the opposite of projection.

Let them practice their religion and say the hell off my planet. There is so much war rape going on in Africa and other places in the world. Why should a 10 year old girl be forced to give birth to her rapists child? The Pope needs to STFU. Go back off in your own jack yard!

16. Why should the rapist be forced to live in jail with food and shelter for his vicious crime?
I'm not disagreeing you re: the child (that's a sad scenario, raping a 10 year old), but such PIGS who rape and feel it's an entitlement to do so should be given the death penalty. If there's a better way to curtail them from raping again and again, I'm open to it. But rape is, in ways, worse than death. Now I cannot fully relate to rape, but I know that molestation and sexual assault are in the same area of criminal activity and those I've been a victim of firsthand. What those PIGS do DOES affect peoples' lives. Permanently. They are a waste of food and water.

Even drug users caught and jailed are sometimes given worse treatment than rapists. That is the most ridiculous aspect of them all. (I'm not against legalizing drugs, I'm for making the punishment fit the crime.)

11. Obama is, but anybody who doesn't think like the pope is not?
:eyes:

Hey, we SHOULD be teaching our children to abstain. But contingency planning isn't bad either. But teaching self-respect, respect for others, an ounce of prevention vs a pound of cure - the religious are so hung up over "ABSTINENCE ONLY, RAH RAH RAH!" that they forget the underlying reasons FOR it in the first place.

I don't dig one night stands, and some people ultimately will do, but the Vatican is vacant on this issue.

Never mind the life the pro-born endure right now; when will Merry Pope-ins talk about the thievery going on in Wall Street?

24. Trouble for Mexican Women
I don't know for sure, but I suspect that the Vatican is pulling out all the stops to influence the heavily traditional Catholic Maexican population, where monies are being freed up for clinics that support all kinds of women's health issues, including reproductive rights. And I don't know, but I imagine they might be willing to play on what racism they can by using the word "arrogant."

They didn't get to be the Vatican by accident.

29. Pope rehabilitates Bishop Holocaust denier.
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict Saturday rehabilitated a traditionalist bishop who denies the Holocaust, despite warnings from Jewish leaders that it would seriously harm Catholic-Jewish relations and foment anti-Semitism.

The Vatican said the pope issued a decree lifting the excommunication of four traditionalist bishops who were thrown out of the Roman Catholic Church in 1988 for being ordained without Vatican permission.

One of the four bishops, the British-born Richard Williamson, has made a number of statements denying the full extent of the Nazi Holocaust of European Jews, as accepted by mainstream historians.

In comments to Swedish television broadcast Wednesday, he said "I believe there were no gas chambers" and only up to 300,000 Jews perished in Nazi concentration camps, instead of six million.
