for Newsom it was political office where having a wife/family usually helps. for Kimberly it was a wealthy guy who could help with connections. once they both got ahead (Newsom as Mayor, Kimberly on Fox) they divorced.

the woman Newsom is married to right now has a history of being an activist for liberal causes long before she met and married Newsom .
