President Obama: "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done"
Edited on Fri Jan-23-09 09:30 PM by deminks
Amen. That's my president. He speaks for me.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/01232009/news/politics/prez_zings_gop_foe_in_a_timulating_talk_151572.htm

WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.

"There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats," the official said. "We shouldn't let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done."

(end snip)

Cry me a river, Bimbo.

14. I was thinking more in terms of what he has listed in his tax returns.
I don't know why he gets used as some sort of "expert" in politics. He is paid to keep his fans stupid. I hate that the President even had to reference him to get his point across. That was what I was getting at.

We'd tee off on him like the MST3K gang and wind up ROTFL.

Haven't smoked in years but nothing could make Limbaugh listenable.

I posted on the Religion/Theology forum.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=214x195170

FALSANI:
Do you ever have people who know you're a Christian question a particular stance you take on an issue, how can you be a Christian and ...

OBAMA:
Like the right to choose.

I haven't been challenged in those direct ways. And to that extent, I give the public a lot of credit. I'm always stuck by how much common sense the American people have. They get confused sometimes, watch FoxNews or listen to talk radio. That's dangerous sometimes. But generally, Americans are tolerant and I think recognize that faith is a personal thing, and they may feel very strongly about an issue like abortion or gay marriage, but if they discuss it with me as an elected official they will discuss it with me in those terms and not, say, as 'you call yourself a Christian.' I cannot recall that ever happening.

56. obama's telling progressives to pay attention to talk radio
it is used to do the groundwork repetition for everything they do. it enables their flat earth politicians and media operatives. we wouldn't be in this disaster without it and finally a major dem politician, in this case the president, is pointing out the talk radio monopoly and its point man.

I know. I listened to him for 18 months in the early 90s, just to try to figure out where he got his "ideas" ... and I failed. It took me 3 years to recover.

"reach out" means i will respect u if u respect me.

AND he's going to speak truth to power, which is super cool, because he's the most powerful person iin the world.

I'm sorry, I just can't get over our new President. He ROCKS. He fuc*ing ROCKS. This reminds me of the scene in Love Actually when Hugh Grant, playing the PM of Enlgand, stands up to the American bully president with the texas accent.

31. Obama is saying he's in this to succeed.
Everybody knows Rush said he wants Obama's "socialist policies" to fail.

Obama is responding that he has no intention of failing... he's not just planning to spend a bunch of money on cronies, like the GOP did. He wants people to look back in a few years and say, "Obama's solution worked!"

At least I hope so.

35. Obama must be the first Democrat to realize
that Limbaugh is the drive shaft of the vast right wing conspiracy. Limbaugh has tremendous influence on public opinion and he uses every bit of it for evil. Past Democrats ignored Limbaugh and acted like they were terrified of him. Meanwhile, Limbaugh destroyed all he could with lies. Limbaugh got as big as he is and got away with all he's gotten away with because nobody challenged him.

He's a bully. When somebody hits him back, he'll run, cry, and whine about how he's being picked on.

59. i agree, 20 yrs of GOP crap because dems have been ignoring talk radio
we wouldn't be in this mess if reagan hadn't killed the Fairness Doctrine. in the meantime it's been rove's invisible 2x4, completely ignored by progressives while that coordinated uncontested repetition was used to completely distort and undercut normal democratic feedback mechanisms, creating an alternate reality for a quick response constituency that purged moderate republicans and effected every aspect of politics, determining the flavor of America.

"You can't listen to Rush Limbaugh and expect people to take you seriously."

That assclown is the biggest gas bag that ever stepped in front of a microphone.

He wouldn't be where he is today if it were not for having the patronage of BushCo and the RNC for the past
eight years. He doesn't have their support and protection any more and now I think his days are numbered.

something has to happen with it or progress will be twice as hard and global warming action will be too slow.

how the fuck can a local radio station that's supposed to serve it's community keep putting on a bunch of chickenhawk liars and idiots who have been wrong about everything important and keep enabling a political party that is purposefully or ignorantly denying global warming.
