1. I heard Rush today...
He sounded livid, bitter, & insane.
I used to listen to Rush pretty often. I used to agree with a lot that he said.. I've softened up quite a bit on a lot of things. :)
I didn't vote for Mr. Obama, but I hope he does a great job & I'm willing to give him a chance to win me over. :)
I refuse to become bitter...don't want to sound like Rush did today. :)

2. Stick around, and pay attention
reality is that we need to keep an eye on them at all times, regardless of party

But I suspect that after the last eight years... things will improve, but they will take time

Oh and welcome to DU

18. I wonder how any sane and logical person could ever listen to rush?
:wtf: Here is a clue for you, he always sounds livid, bitter and insane. That you never noticed until today says much about you.

That idiot is a multi million $$ hate spewer, who COULD NOT CARE LESS about the 'one paycheck away from the poor house' morons who eat up his bull$hit. I bet he laughs at you, all the way to the bank.

37. Hold it, my Masters Thesis director
he listened to rush... of course he also compared Rush to a modern day Father Coughtlin and told me back in the day, (1980s) that Rush and his ilk would bring great pain to the country

And yes, he was very rational, thank you

And due to him I actually listened to Rush (but from an analysis POV) until listening to them became unbearable.

33. Hey there, and welcome to DU!
:hi: Good to have you here, and kudos for being so open and honest. :) A lot of people here don't like Rush (as you might have noticed ;)), but I thought your post was really thoughtful and positive, and I hope you'll stick around. :) Peace!

4. Maybe there's something else going on here?
I mean, I hated GWB from the start but I didn't want him to fail. I was hoping he surprised me, and obviously for the good of the country I hoped for the best, I was just afraid he'd fail cause he is such a bad person.

Makes me think there's something Rush knows that we're all going to find out that he knows about. I mean, he's been pushing against Obama hard, almost to the point of inciting violence, and now saying he wants our country to fail? I can't even imagine that would sit well with his crazy listeners.

11. I guess he knew something about Clinton too
just like Father Coughlin knew something 'bout FDR

He knows shit, he's pushing back on ideological grounds

Oh wait, he does know something... if Obama succeeds, especially if it is spectacular, the GOP can kiss the White House goodbye for a generation or two.

Maybe something Rush knows about the Bush Administration that he's making a last ditch effort to try to protect?

I do agree that he's a shock jock though, so he's probably just saying stupid stuff.

6. What is it with Republicans???
Why are they so mean, bitter, and hateful?

And even if they are, why do they seem to like criminals and kings so much?

In my lifetime, Nixon and Bush. Both thought that U.S. law and the Constitution did not apply to them. They thought the presidency should be exclusive and secret. Us versus them mentality.

Yet, despite their royal inclinations and their disregard for the law, both had rock solid support from the Republican base and were reelected to a 2nd term. I don't get it. I can't figure them out. They just love kings and scoundrels for some reason.

17. They're not quite monarchists, they're more like manoralists, imho.
Tax cuts for the already filthy rich, one set of laws for the ruling class but another for everybody else, etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manorialism

Manorialism was characterised by the vesting of legal and economic power in a lord, supported economically from his own direct landholding and from the obligatory contributions of a legally subject part of the peasant population under his jurisdiction.

8. One has to remember...
that Limbaugh and his followers' definition of "success" is George W. Bush. That took away any credibility (if there ever was any) a long time ago.

Still carrying the Repub's water I see, after he said he was done.

10. I wish he would just go ahead and shift his great bulk to Dubai or whatever
Anyone hoping that "Obama fails", with the country in the fragile condition it's now in, is hoping for pain, suffering, and death for a lot of Americans. We're in dire trouble, everyone can see that. If we fail to stabilize and pull out of our nosedive, the owners of property will likely insist on a change of arrangements, as they do in all other countries when the shit hits the fan.

Oopsies I forgot -as one our leading warmongers, Rush Limbaugh has been openly reveling in pain, suffering and death for Americans for about 7 years now already.

I despair about this country much of the time, Limbaugh seems to actually wish it ill.

the party of divide & conquer, using race, religion, income, anything they can to put people in groups hating and pointing the finger at other groups...however, republicans never utter a bad word against the oppressive fascist corporations the republicans adore so....

The corporations are the republican party, to fight against the workers and they are clever, dividing people into groups, voting against their own best interests what Limbaugh and the corporate media do each & every day, dividing, preaching hate and pointing their greedy hateful elitist fingers at others the despise.

Limbaugh a self described republican, a republican party that's always been racist, hateful of workers, unions, government for the people, a party of true elitist as the word is defined, republicans greedy, selfish lying pigs...

And pigman Limbaugh represents the king pig of hateful sickening liars...the fucking republican corporate party (corporat6e fascist as they have proved over & over)....
the republicans would rather see Dems & our country fail for their own wicked, evil greed & power....

This is republican ideology and their agenda....We can't let down our guard...Obama & the Dems will need all of our help to fight these republican pigs....be ready!!

20. Limbaugh & the republicans will do all they can to put as much
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 03:35 AM by GreenTea
pressure, and put as much blame for everything on Obama as possible, make things tough on him, lie, set him up, distort and blame, blame, blame (ala Clinton) say it enough times, non political, non astute, voters will begin to believe the lies, it occurs very slowly, as time month's & years go by. Americans have short memories...Limbaugh & the republicans will be on an all out assault, much worst than Clinton ever saw, these are truly racist republicans and they can't and will not allow a Democrat, a black man to secede...it would ruin the whole republican party philosophy...They know this...fuck our country to them this is war for survival and dominance.

You like others seen to think Obama is superman, a god, invincible....if Obama doesn't get help from you, me and everyone who voted for him every day, yes indeed apathy will set in as it did in 1994 when we could of had it all...We all have to be aware and get involved, it's just the beginning of our fight....and it started yesterday!

21. No, I do not think Obama is superman, or a god or invincible.
However, I do see a man who is going to work long hard hours at the business of getting this country back on track. I also see a man who will do it spite of a great right wing conspiracy to bring him down. Doesn't that sound familiar? Let's see, who was the last president to face the same challenges? I seem to recall that president had a pretty good run in spite of the inconceivable amount of time and resources that were directed against him.

I do agree with your last sentence though, WE all need to be involved and stay in the game. Things will improve much quicker if we do.

24. Simply having an honest & intelligent man
working for the good of the nation will do wonders. Because this is the opposite of we have endured for eight years.

Funny, the only ones I've heard call Obama a god, the Messiah or a superman have been Republicans.

All we want in Obama is an ordinary, intelligent and good man. An I believe this is who we have elected.

Limbaugh is a pig man.

26. Sorry, but I have absolutely no use for any Republican anymore.
There was a time when I could respect their position on a number of issues. But this generation of scum bags doesn't deserve any degree of respect. I am firmly convinced that the vast majority of their followers are nothing but ignorant racists and radical bible thumping idiots.

The top echelon of the party consists of nothing but outright criminals. There was a time when I voted for a number of Republicans, but never again will I cast a vote of any Republican for any position in government. The recent Republican administrations have proven to be the enemies of the Republic and have total defamed themselves. How anyone could say that they support today's Republican party is totally beyond comprehension of anyone who cherishes this nation and our Constitution. The litany of abuses by Nixon, Reagan, and especially Bush 43 is staggering.

When did rooting for failure amount to patriotism?

His words make it clear that the only "team" he is rooting for is his particular political party. It seems he has somehow misplaced the "United" portion of "United States."

35. Rush is a pathetic little man
He's never succeeded at anything except dropping to his knees daily to fellate the ubermensch who's bidding he does. He's just angry because deep down he knows he's witnessing a man who will have a prominent place in history while he will be a footnote at best.

The best thing to do with asshats like rush, hannity, o'really, savage, coulter and the like is to ignore them. Let them slowly fade to insignificance as we move forward. Sure, they will get noisier and crazier for a while, but I predict they will eventually burn themselves out with all but a very small minority of vitriolic nutjobs as the misguided ideology they are enslaved to becomes more and more irrelevant.
