Be Watchful for Pardons Tomorrow (Friday) Night

I have a feeling that the incoming Obama folks have been quite about investigations and prosecutions so as not to rile Bush and give him reason to issue self-serving pardons. As long as he isn't threatened directly I don't think he's smart enough to know that his liable ass is out there hanging in the wind.

Holder's confirmation hearing has gone well so far and there are hints that he will look into the past. He says he's going to have to clean up the Department and he says he has to study where its been soiled to be able to clean it. That investigation alone will lead him to illegal hiring practices, that is pretty obvious. Then there are other Hatch Act violations to be found in sworn Congressional testimony aplenty for anyone willing to go back just a couple of years. So there is hope that criminality will be addressed - let's just not let George know until after tuesday.

Anyway if its going to happen this weekend is the time - get behind the news cycle and then let it be buried in the inauguration hoop-la.

TV news will be wall-to-wall Obama inauguration this weekend so there's probably no reason to wait until minutes before Obama takes the oath for Bush to pardon all his criminal pals.

Any judge who would rubber-stamps blanket pardons for these criminals is asking for a raft of shit and way more scrutiny than he or she would ever want.
