White House interns forced to fill seats at Bush’s last press conference to make the room seem less empty.»

When the White House announced President Bush’s final press conference yesterday, it sent a bulletin to reporters declaring “one correspondent per organization” and “standing room only for non-seat holders.” But as the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank points out, not enough reporters attended for the presser to make it “standing room only”:

*** Further complicating his last-minute legacy rehabilitation: Nobody seems to be paying attention. The White House had high expectations for yesterday’s final, historic news conference. “ONE CORRESPONDENT PER ORGANIZATION,” proclaimed the bulletin sent to reporters. “STANDING ROOM ONLY FOR NON-SEAT HOLDERS.” But when the appointed hour of 9:15 a.m. arrived, the last two rows in the seven-row briefing room were empty, and a press aide told White House interns to fill those seats.

1. LOL
If he wants press coverage he could get it if he were tried for his crimes, that would result in standing room only. I just someone would make that happen for him and the nation/world.

2. That explains the odd "YEAH!!!" from the back of the room at the end of the conference.
And the odd applause. Those where Bushies!

3. LOL
First of his press conferences I have watched in its entirety. Can't blame the press. I felt like he was a fraternity president and he was talking to his frat brothers about what they were going to do for Homecoming.

The Young Turks today said he was like a 3rd grader giving a book report and he hadn't read the book.

11. he not only understands- at times he seems to revel in it.
it's almost satisfying to think of the mental torment that must go on in what's left of that booze-soaked brain when he's all alone, with just the bottle to keep him company.

he may claim otherwise- but the prospects his horrid legacy will haunt him- even in his sleep, for the rest of his life. and he'll be drinking more and more to make it go away...but it won't.

good.

8. Link to video of press conference?
I only saw part of it. What I saw was so outrageous it was a hoot.

A major clusterfuck is not a "disappointment".
