There are volumes on bookstore shelves detailing the Bush years crimes - who can deny it?

There is no question that serious laws have been broken in the recent past in this country and that the effects of those crimes is being felt right this moment. The crimes are detailed in various volumes available in any city bookstore, many are written by creditable authors. What excuse can there possibly be not to enforce laws on the 21st of January that were continuously committed right up until the 20th of January - and possibly beyond?

Does Obama intend to be the second wire-tapping President? Does he intend to be the second President to reside over a nation where the Great Writ is no longer honored? Does he intend to let the CIA and NSA and all the rest of our "intelligence" apparatus continue to run wild for fear of losing some of their numbers if others are prosecuted for what any man would know to be wrong?

If there are no investigations and prosecutions then there is no rule of law and if there is no rule of law then there is no nation. George Bush put himself and his Administration above the law, will Obama take his place or enforce the law. It is the most crucial question facing the nation, more important than the war or the economy, more important than the antics of the religious right and even our foreign involvements.

If we are lawless at home then nothing else matters. The next few weeks will tell the tale. Action needs to be taken immediately on three fronts. The White House, though the Department of Justice, needs to begin serious investigations and proceed to indictment and trial where warranted. The White House has to immediately review all of Bush's Orders and see which are detrimental to our democratic republic and resend them immediately, same goes for his signing statements. Concurrently and in concert both the House and Senate Judiciary Committees need to apply themselves to investigations and changes in law as necessary.

Bush took our rights from us, will Obama return them or horde them for himself? We'll see soon.

2. Technically he'd be the third wire tapping president
Didn't Nixon do that too?

We are going to get a mixed bag on this issue from Obama at best. I don't think there's much chance he's going to prosecute the Bush administration, and, in fairness, he's never pretended like he would. What I hope he will do is change the way we do business and stop the abuses currently engaged in.

4. Our Congressional leadership has been denying it for years.
The only rational reason is they either agree with the bush administration or are complicit. There are no other reasons which are in the realm of logic.

5. The corpmedia wouldn't promote those books or even discuss them. Too busy micing the SwiftLiars
and the Bush cheerleaders.
