Palin will be toast in all due time...
Alaska will blow up soon. It's not the oil prices. It's the fact that the Alaskan government is very dependent on Washington DC for funding. I just don't see Obama helping Palin push him out of his second term. Not with Rahm Emanuel around.

Palin's got to go to DC and ask Obama for funding. Alaska doesn't have a sales tax or an income tax. Even with high oil prices it's very dependent on the federal government for funding.

1. Her ego will be the cause of her downfall.
She's already blowing off the Alaskan state government in favor of interviews and other self-gratifying functions.

4. Huh?
"I just don't see Obama helping Palin push him out of his second term."

This isn't just Palin-freude on my part... She'd be the best possible opponent for him. If things go very wrong there are possible scenarios where Obama would lose to any Republican, but there is simply no scenario under which she would do better than another Republican candidate.

6. Don't kid yourself. She can get a TV deal anytime she wants. She is hot.
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 01:58 AM by McCamy Taylor
And she is wasted in politics. That woman needs to go to LA and star in her own show. My son asked me how you tell the difference between her and Tina Fey. I told him the real Sarah Palin is the good looking one. The one that could enter a beauty contest.

In a world where being on TV is more important than being in DC and where looks are everything, she can get anything she wants. She just needs the right agent. And stop giving it away for free.

13. Her term as Governor expires in 2010, and she won't be back
Not only will she not be reelected as Governor, she will not even get the nomination.

Her next job will be a sports broadcaster for FOX Sports.

14. The best part of the Palin saga is that she actually
believes she was Vice Presidential material. That suggests that her brain was fried (and not toasted) ages ago. She is a textbook narcissist - a vicious, vacuous, vindictive viper. This link is a super article on these lunatics.
------------------------
http://www.arachnoid.com/psychology/narcissism.php

Narcissists typically attach themselves to the more dogmatic and less flexible sources of authority, sources unlikely to undergo modification, because the entire point is to be absolutely certain — more certain than life really is — and be beyond the possibility of refutation or criticism. This means narcissists find themselves attracted to such callings as religion, law enforcement, and, ironically, clinical psychology, because these fields contain a very high percentage of inflexible content, and little possibility for challenge or refutation of their principles.

The basic idea is that a narcissist wants to secure himself against the need to say, "Okay, I made a mistake, I was wrong." To a narcissist, this is a fate worse than death, and many narcissists quite literally suffer death to avoid the possibility.

Normal people are willing to be found wrong, over and over again, because this is in the nature of life. Such people expect their personal creative process to eventually bear fruit, and are willing to experiment with reality, walk paths not yet explored, sometimes stumble and fall, in the hope of contributing something new to the store of human knowledge.

At some risk of oversimplification, a normal person is willing to be wrong 100 times in order to create something uniquely new and useful, while a narcissist sacrifices this opportunity, this stage of personal evolution, in order to be secure against the possibility of being found wrong. For a normal person, being wrong is the price we pay for the creative process. For a narcissist, being wrong is too high a price to pay — better to label other people as wrong, from within an impregnable fortress of mediocrity. Unfortunately, in exchange for an infantile kind of security, narcissists sacrifice any chance to positively influence the world.

15. She's A Gift That Keep Giving...
Palin's value is her mouth...the more she opens it, the more of a cartoon character she becomes. For many she's now a cross between Dan Quayle and the lady from Fargo...a complete joke. She's become a curiosity by the corporate media and the more she snipes with them the more they'll perpetuate the cartoon...she's just digging her hole deeper. But she neither sees it nor cares. Her "base" are the wingnuts and that's all that counts. She's fighting to "win the soul" of what's left of her inept and corrupt party and the more outrageous or stupid she sounds/looks, the more they're turned on by her.

All states are gonna face major fiscal messes next year. The loss of revenues are gonna really put a crunch on every state budget and I see many states, not just Alaska, lining up for federal dollars to get by. She'll be getting in line with 49 other states and my bets are she'll be toward the back of the line...not the front.

This is a long article but it details the history of alaska and the federal government's largesse.

There will be a lot of misery in Alaska.
