Another Pew "What's your news IQ" test
I remember the last one and scored perfectly, the questions were just as
dumb then as they are now. I think everyone will score pretty high on this.
I would rate this test as one that 5th to 7th graders should do well.

If you want to take the quiz : http://pewresearch.org/newsiq/quiz/

47. The one about the DOW. I can't keep track of that...
I guessed right on the Iraqi death numbers because they announced it today on the news. I remember the DU thread when the death toll reached 2000. It was pretty shocking to me because I remembered and replied with the very sad DU thread when it had reached 200... :-(

As for the "official" numbers, the ones they really screw with are the civilians who have been killed. We're not supposed to know or think about them... :-(

The question that the second lowest number of people got right?

"Since the start of military action in Iraq, about how many U.S. military personnel have been killed?"

With only 40% getting that question correct.

The lowest was the question about who Nicolas Sarkozy is the president of. Because as we all know, it's not important for Americans to know the leaders of other nations. :puke:

And we wonder how Bush was elected.

63. It shows how they could be manipulated

David Byrne had an article in December which said:

"What will happen when most of the country has nothing but entertainment, gossip and sports as sources of information? It’s a country ripe for takeover, if you ask me. A place where public opinion can be easily manipulated, as long as the consumers keep buying. Blogs and Internet news sites can’t fill the gap, as they don’t have the resources to sustain a team of reporters working and digging into a story "

73. I got one wrong. The 'Iraq war military personnel killed' one.
That was the only one I had to think about, too. The rest were so basic. Still, even most college graduates didn't hit fifty. The women did 10 points lower than men, which is interesting. I'm guessing most are far more tuned in to their own world than 'out there'. The only question they scored higher on than men was the one on Hillary.

Other trends, not surprisingly the more educated do better, and the older people do better.

It's rather frightening to know these people are considered my peers.
