Detroit and oil companies in cahoots?
OK maybe this is the ultimate :tinfoilhat:

But what if the current trend of cheap gasoline is just a means to help car dealers and manufacturers clear out their inventory of unsold SUVs, hummers, pickups and other gas guzzling land yachts? And as soon as the last behemoth leaves the lot, the prices again zoom upwards.

And what if the goverenment has secretly used TARP funds to make up the lost profits to the oil companies?

Is that a Detroit bailout you could support?

3. How people here just HATE Detroit
DU, where hatred of all things American is fun and allowed.

What if the JAPANESE have conspired to empty their lots of Gas Guzzling SUV's and humongous trucks?

5. There's room for the Japanese manufacturers in this scam as well

Sorry for my use of the generic term "Detroit".

And I'm not saying its totally bad. We've all benefitted from the cheaper gas. As long as it lasts.

And I don't really care if gas prices go back up. Long as they quit making these giant cars.

7. No doubt.
I've always taken that as pretty much a given. Their products are, after all, pretty much dependent on one another. It would actually be bad business practice to not band together to some extent. (And, likewise, it would be bad governing to allow them to do so to a great extent.)

6. My SIL and I were talking about this very thing yesterday. I don't think it
requires a tinfoil hat. Someone posted an article here yesterday than SUV and truck sales were skyrocketing.
