Obama hasn't even been sworn in yet and the DU consensus is
that his presidency has already been a miserable failure. Jeez. Why not wait til he's actually president before dismembering him. Very discouraging around here.

1. Don't take it seriously
We won.

We fought long and hard. God, it was a long, hard fight, and we won.

Obama will be our President.

What's really unfortunate is that the people who fought for him are the ones making these noises about one thing he's done that they don't like. I don't like it, either, but if anyone thinks I'm going to give up on the only man who gives me hope for America, they're nuts.

So, don't take them seriously. If they're willing to cave over one issue, no matter how deeply they feel about it, they're lacking some kind of something, and maybe they can find a candidate in 2012 that they can support.

But what will they do for the next four years? And will they still come to DU? If so, for what?

7. You're confusing what I've said.
How could I have said his presidency is a failure, if he hasn't started the presidency yet? I DID say that if his unwillingness to remove a bigot from the inauguration, any indication of what his presidency is going to be like, I'm going to use my money, resources and time to back a different candidate in 2012.

I'm waiting for and hoping Obama removes Rick Warren from the inauguration and invites a preacher who is not a bigot, not a woman-hater, and did not spend the past 10 years asking people to vote Republican. This nation is gigantic and has a huge population. I can't believe every preacher is a bigot-homophobe-fascist.

8.  the DU consensus is that his presidency has already been a miserable failure
Happy strawman time! Accusing people of imaginary behaviors is fun.

Jeez.

Jeez is part of the problem.

Why not wait til he's actually president before dismembering him.

He is not being dismembered. One of his choices is being criticized.

Very discouraging around here.

Dissent is patriotic. Just because many DUers criticize a choice made by Obama, does not mean he is now hated here.

13. Never dreamed it would be so negative at this point
You can bet freeperland wasn't, even when the pResident had not really been properly elected. Or his "win" in 2004.

We have a Dem Prez, Senate and House and should be jumping for joy. Every cabinet pick is someone who is not a Republican! Not an Ashcroft or a Cheney or a Rumsfeld or a Mukasey or Rice - after 8 years of suffering from that, there is no reason to be anything but happy.

Some people just thrive on being miserable and do all they can to stay that way.

15. 'Some people just thrive on being miserable' - I've never found that to be the case
Those that I have run into that have had really poor moods have had good reason for it. Psychologically, historically... what a cliche to say anoyone "enjoys" being miserable! Often all those people want is a friend or someone to listen to them.

on the basis of mere rumors that Rahm Emanuel might be the chief of staff. The bitching about that fizzled away within about a week, until something else came along for them to whine about.

I am still celebrating the election, and NOBODY will rain on that parade for me.

been disappointed in several of his actions and choices myself, BUT he deserves at least a year to see how his administration shakes out. I'll gladly grant him that year.

He's already head and shoulders above the current group of thugs currently inhabiting the seats of power.

I call it re-uniting the country.

As much as * and his minions have fucked the country, it doesn't mean that ALL republicans are like * and it goes a long way in bringing us back together as a country.

As smart as you seem to be I'm surprised you don't see that.

At least let the man take his place before you bash his choices. Remember, HE is the boss and if they don't perform to his standards I'm sure he will insist upon their resignations.

Personally I think he's been brilliant with his choices, and that includes Rick Warren.

You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time."

Please keep that in mind as this brilliant leader makes the changes necessary to fix the fuck-ups we've been subjected to under 8 years of the most corrupt evil administration in the history of the country.

43. Makes changes?
That word was simply campaign rhetoric. If you want to be naive and believe your messiah is going to CHANGE anything meaningful, then do. But don't expect others to.

I'm too old and have been down this road way to many times before. Obama began to show his true colors as soon as he got the nom. The vast amount of his appointments have been DLCers and Clinton re-treads. Please tell me how that is change.

Then if that wasn't enough, he invites a bigoted, anti- gay and anti-women's rights con man to be w/him, up on the national stage on the day of his innauguation. Again, where is the change?

I did not vote for someone, twice, so that he could send a giant FUCK YOU to so many people that supported, worked for and voted for him.

47. As I posted in another thread...
I am amazed that democrats can get anyone to run for office considering all the backbiting that even winning candidates have to face from their own party. It's as if every single person who voted for Obama thinks he should call them personally and ask for their opinions before making a decision.

Has anyone ever gotten everything they wanted from a politician (except, of course, oil barons for the last eight years)? Get a grip, people!

52. Yes, Let's Let Him Pick His Cabinet and Invite Bigots to Speak at the Inauguration...
...and wait til after he's sworn in to complain. Better yet, it's not really fair to judge him on his presidency til he at least completes his first term, so better hold off on all complaints til then. Actually, how much could he really get done in four years? Better wait til he finishes his 8 years, and then we can talk about all the things he should have done differently that will impact this country for years.

Do you GET "government by the people, FOR the people"?
