Bernie Sanders on w/ Hartmann: Expect not much to get done again
Wow. Someone called Drew just called in and lambasted Leahy (rolling over on the Holder hearing), Pelosi (warning Obama not to do anything rash after letting * get away with everything up to and including murder for years), and the Congressional Dems incl Bernie for letting the Repubs do anything they want.

Bernie's response: It takes 60 votes to get anything done in the Senate, and we don't have 60 votes.

Bernie is starting to grate on my nerves with "you raise a very good point", and "we're taking a hard look at that"

2. The way the Dems are now..
.. they could have their fukkin 60 votes,
and they'd still act like wimps.

They'd just make different excuses, that's all.

They're an overprivileged elite club....

3. Bernie Sanders is the only Senator who routinely goes on radio
and takes calls from the public.... He's ok, in my book.

I know we all feel a need to focus our anger with respect to the DEMS leadership, but we definitely don't want to kill him as the messenger. (besides the fact that he is an independant)

6. They're all despicable, Bernie somewhat less so. I'd rate Feingold
about the same.

How else would you explain an approval rating below shrub?

7. Why do you give Bernie such a backhanded compliment?
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 01:03 PM by brentspeak
???

Why the low regard? (I guess the same question applies to Feingold, too). I don't get it.

8. Because he has consistently alternated between defending the scum and
crying helplessness. He has also dodged the occasional question of why the republiks seem able to overcome their minority status while the Democrats sat in the corner and whimpered when the roles were reversed.

As I said, he is somewhat less repugnant but has little influence when dealing with the party power structure, due to his non-affiliation, which is the root of this problem.

I do believe he would be better if he were free to act on his own, but that is not the case.
