9. Are you homolicious?
If not then you have no business criticizing someone for speaking out on the behalf of their own human rights. If you are, then WTF?

11. Obama DESERVES to be bashed for this - he did just what the picture portrays
I WILL bash him for this, and I will NOT accept this decision involving the homophobe hateful Rick Warren EVER! So if this bashing bothers you, go ahead and put me on ignore, because when it comes to denying equal rights to all people, I will NOT back down. The bashing has only just begun...

4. I'm weary about this
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 08:53 PM by VADem11
He's not the fucking President yet. Hold him accountable but let's do it without outright condemning Obama. I'm gay and while I'm incredibly dissapointed about the Warren pick, I'd rather focus on working on passing gay rights legislation instead of complaining about someone who's going to give a 2 minute prayer.

Let's think about the big picture here. I'm deeply disappointed that Obama doesn't support marriage equality but let's keep in mind that Obama was the first major Presidential candidate who actually acknowledged the existence of gay people in his speeches, condemned homophobia in the black community, and hired openly gay people like Steve Hildenbrand during the campaign and picked Nancy Sutley to chair the Council on Environmental Quality. We have to keep pushing Obama very very hard to make good on his promises to repeal DADT and DOMA and his promises on other issues but let's not abandon him before he's even sworn in. We can't judge what his Presidency will be like right now. Many things can change in 4 years.

5. Wow. You're gay and you feel that way?
I'm not and I'm outraged at this choice.

6. I do
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 08:55 PM by VADem11
Maybe I'm being a bad gay or something but I couldn't give a flying fuck who gives the prayer. Rick Warren is an ass for sure but I don't believe Obama is an anti-gay bigot. I'm just not as outraged as I was when Prop 8 passed or when Virginia's anti-gay constitutional amendment was approved.

7. Oh yeah, I remember this argument...

Don't blame Bill Clinton for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", it was a necessary compromise. Don't blame Bill Clinton for DOMA, he has to get reelected. Some of us are getting awfully tired of the view from under the bus. Yeah, things changed in 4 years under Clinton, for the worse!

8. Yeah ok
Did you not read the part where I specifically said that we need to hold Obama accountable on his promises to repeal DADT and DOMA? Geez. If Obama doesn't follow through or if he fucks up I have no problem blaming him.

10. I seem to remember, we had high hopes for Clinton as well...

as we've learned, holding a president accountable is easier said than done.
