The high court of Florida ruled in 2000 that all the votes should be counted. They were overruled by five criminally insane people on the U.S. Supreme Court who, in effect, "appointed" George W. Bush.
For quite a while now, the FL high court has leaned toward being liberal, (many of them were appointed by our last Dem governor, Lawton Chiles), but that is about to change. Four justices are on the way out: two conservatives and two liberals. Our governor, Charlie Crist will be appointing their replacements.
Charlie has presidential ambitions (he just got married to stop all the rumors about why he wasn't married) and he will be appointing four wingnuts to replace the retiring justices.
After all, how can any Republican candidate have presidential fantasies without kissing the collective ass of the wingnut fundamentalists? So Charlie, who has been a fairly moderate governor, is about to cross over to the dark side.
And that's too bad. He's a reasonably likable guy who has been popular even with Democrats in the state. But I guess if you're going to take a run at being the Thug Prez nominee, you've got to demonstrate that you're a certified prick.
Too bad, Charlie. It was fun while it lasted. Enjoy your honeymoon with your wife. The one with the Dems in FL is about to end.
