Bicyclist-assaulting cop indicted
Remember the cop who slammed a Critical Mass rider off his bike? He's been indicted for filing false reports following the incident:

1. What that cop did was unprovoked, and indicates some sort of
psychological problem He should not be on the job.

2. That's good to hear.
I remember seeing the original video the day after it happened. The cop should be dismissed from the force at least.

8. Should be prosecuted for attempted murder!
Anything less is an injustice.

7. This is exactly why we hear so many stories of cops breaking and taking cameras
The only reason that a cop ever has for taking a camera from a person in a public place is to obstruct justice by destroying the evidence that the camera has or might get.

9. What scares me are the cops that don't get caught by film
hurting people randomly and for the hell of it.

10. That was my thought too
What if the video for this guy hadn't been shot, with a nice, long establishing sequence? The footage before his flying tackle shows him standing and watching the bicyclists riding by for quite a while. A short bit of video just showing the tackle would almost surely have been shrugged off with "Well, you didn't see what was going on before that," which is the thug's stock answer.

11. You know it
And busybodies with cameras can't expect to just walk away without getting some of their special treatment anymore.

13. The same thing should happen to that cop...
...as would've happened to the cyclist had their positions been reversed.

A cop attacking a citizen should carry the same punishment as a citizen attacking a cop.

Maybe even twice the punishment, since the cops are sworn to protect the citizens.
