Ex-boyfriend believed to have diverted dangerous fumes into victim's home
PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- A suspect created a smelly and potentially deadly situation for his ex-girlfriend when he reportedly rerouted exhaust fumes from her furnace into her basement.

Christopher Restaino of Plymouth also allegedly stole a CD player and various other property from the 26-year-old victim's residence on Melix Avenue.

The ex-girlfriend alerted authorities after smelling the suspicious fumes when she returned to the one-story, ranch-style house with her parents on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m.

She told police she suspected her ex-boyfriend was behind the crime, saying that Restaino had not left her alone since she had ended their romantic relationship on March 6 after four months.

Finding the suspect suicidal and mentally unstable upon after his apprehension, Restaino was taken to Bridgewater State Hospital and ordered held there for 60 days until a court appearance.
