Rice tells Fox News: Overthrow of Saddam a great strategic achievement for Bush and the U.S.A.
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Rice_Iraq_war_turn_out_to_1207.html

Interviewed by Chris Wallace of Fox News on Sunday, Rice touched on claims that Iraq held weapons of mass destruction, offering regret that the reports were false.

Although Rice said she "would give anything" to revisit the issue of weapons of mass destruction, she maintained that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was still right even if the weapons were never found.

Asked if she felt any responsibility for the mistaken intelligence, Rice evaded the question with the positive changes made to U.S. intelligence gathering and steps toward helping Iraq as the "bulwark against Iran."

"I still believe that the overthrow of Saddam Hussein is going to turn out to be a great strategic achievement, not just for the Bush administration, but for the United States of America," Rice said.

1. And it only cost a trillion dollars and a couple million lives
Note to self: NEVER tell Dr. Rice a fly in my house is annoying me. She'll break out the bazooka and the sledge hammer. And then have the nerve to tell me it was worth it.

3. So is "strategic achievement" the new term for "utter fuckup"?
Please let me know, because I might have occasion to use it at work pretty soon.

7. well, sure, if your goal was to...
kill a million or so innocents
bog us down in an unwinnable war
squander a trillion dollars or so
wreck our military
leave the national guard strapped for resources during our crises back here
ruin our standing in the world
leave us more vulnerable to terrorism than we were before 9/11
do bin Laden's marketing and recruitment for him

then, yeah. heckuva strategy, there *. heckuva strategy too, condi. :banghead:

13. ...helping Iraq as the "bulwark against Iran."
Cripes. Iraq was the "bulwark against Iran." We played those two off each other for a decade and look what it got us. If Kuwait hadn't called in loans Saddam burned up in wars against Iran, he wouldn't have invaded. If we hadn't battled Saddam from Saudi Arabia, we wouldn't have an Osama problem. If we hadn't installed the Shah, we wouldn't have adopted Saddam. If we hadn't bolstered the Mujahadeen, we wouldn't have a Taliban problem.

Our meddling has borne nothing but ever more dire consequences, and this fucking shoe maven is too ideologically blinkered to acknowledge what's plainly obvious even to her.

14. It's clear she simply doesn't get it. Iraq was the check against Iran. Now Iraq is an extension of
Iran.
