Hmmm...Libby Trial Witness Cathie Martin's hubby got FCC Chair job March, 2005
Cathie Martin (former Assistant to Dick Cheney) and witness in the Scooter Libby trial

So, Cathie Martin was talking to Fitz for a couple of years about what she knew about Scooter Libby and Cheney and in 2005 her hubby who was General Counsel for Bush in 2000 Campaign and served on the Bush Transition team was appointed FCC CHAIRMAN?

Is there something that sort of "smells" here? Or is it just ironic that Cathie's Husband gets to head the FCC when his wife was involved (and, probably already being questioned by Fitzgerald about what she knew) in the case of the "outing a CIA agent" and the discrediting of her husband Ambassador Wilson in the lead up to the Iraq Invasion and Occupation?

Kevin Martin Appointed FCC Chairman,

(Pacifica's Democracy Now!, Mar. 17, 2005) Yesterday, President Bush announced the appointment of Kevin Martin to head the Federal Communications Commission. He will replace Michael Powell as the chairman of the organization.

Powell is leaving after seven and a half years on the commission including four years as chairman. Kevin Martin was appointed to the FCC in 2001. Martin is considered an advocate of reducing government's regulation of telecommunication companies and increasing the monitoring and enforcement of so-called indecent content on the airwaves.

He pleased Christian conservative groups when he dissented from an FCC decision not to fine the NBC television network for singer Bono's use of an expletive during the 2003 Golden Globe Award ceremony. He has also been in favor of stiffer penalties against media companies that broadcast indecent material.

These organizations - like the Family Research Council - have been advocating for the appointment of Martin to replace Powell. Pat Trueman of the Family Research Council has said of Martin "He is someone who understands what indecency is doing to the culture. And he's certainly someone who we'd be happy to see as a chairman."

Kevin Martin also has close ties to the White House. Previous to his FCC job, he served on the Bush-Cheney transition team and was general council for Bush's 2000 Presidential campaign. His wife, Cathie Martin is a former aide to Vice President Dick Cheney - and works in the White House as a special assistant to the President for economic policy.

1. Wife's BS job title: "Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy"
What kind of serious career woman and Harvard Law grad named Catherine, calls herself "Cathie" in the workplace? It's just so precious and cute and NON-THREATENING to GOP males. Here's a little bio on her:

www.whitehouse.gov/government/cmartin-bio.html

Catherine Martin
Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Communications Director for Policy and Planning

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Martin served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy. From 2001 to 2004, she worked for Vice President Dick Cheney as Deputy Assistant and then Assistant to the Vice President for Public Affairs. Prior to joining the White House, Ms. Martin worked for Secretary of Commerce Don Evans as Deputy Chief of Staff and White House Liaison. From 2000 to 2001, Martin served as Policy Director to former Texas Attorney General John Cornyn, who was later elected to the United States Senate. From 1994 to 2000, Ms. Martin practiced law at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, LLP.

Ms. Martin received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1993 and her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. Ms. Martin is married to Kevin Martin, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, and they reside in Washington, D.C.

2. Imperial Family
There was a piece in the Washington Post today about some internal war going on in the FCC involving Mr. Martin. Lately I have begun thinking in terms of this Bush government as an Imperial Family. Powell's son, Liz Cheney, these people, Jeb Bush, Pappy Bush and the relationship with the members of the press all kind of resembles some sort of ruling elite that passes out power through their gene pool and circle of friends similar to the Russian Imperial family. Does that make Cheney Rasputin or is he Rove?
