Hatred Fuels Fire
http://www.observernewsonline.com/content/view/73644/1/

Melvin Whistlehunt was at work when he got a call from his mother at 2:30 a.m. Friday that his home was engulfed in flames.

As firefighters began hosing down the house at 1275 Buffalo Shoals Road, it became clear the home was set on fire intentionally. What they found launched an immediate hate crime investigation.

The fire was intense, but it didn’t keep Jason Drum, chief of the Bandys Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department, from noticing graffiti written across the back of the brick home within five minutes of arrival. Someone used white spray paint to write a derogatory message referring to sexual orientation and race.

Drum asked Whistlehunt’s mother, who lives next door, if the graffiti had been there. She told him it was new.

Whistlehunt said everyone who knows him is aware he’s gay, but few people have outwardly criticized him for it.

Between electing an African American as President and the very loud & visible backlash over Prop H8 passing, I think we're going to be seeing more of this.

Thank you Sarah Palin for taking it up to another level. My only hope is that these nutjobs are as incompetent at the stupid things that they'll try and reveal themselves quickly in their failed attempts to act out at others simply because they're "other"

(And this was in the newly Blue state of NC)

1. Maybe he should have been more "discrete" ?
:sarcasm:

3. No doubt, some would say that.

2. sigh.
These incidents need to be all over the front pages of every major newspaper. Perhaps people would take more seriously the fact that this is a civil rights issue, that people are being persecuted for who they are in their own homes, in their churches and places of business.

4. Sarah Palin should have to answer for the rhetoric she spewed
during the campaign.

She said a sitting US Senator was "palling around with terrorists" and nobody in the mainstream media makes her answer for that. They only want to know what TV show she'll be on next.

God damn it this makes me angry! These right wingers, ironically considering their rhetoric, are the furthest things from patriots you could get.
