it seems there is a lull since the Obama victory . . . .
Not since becoming a publisher of an ezine (less than a year ago) did I know how much of an appetite we all have for negative, nit pickin', back stabbing, kind of media coverage. And I'm not above it. I have to admit it to myself - I LOVED to see Sarah Palin gaffe and stumble. Maybe because of her meanness I just wanted her to get what was coming to her -- I'm not sure. But my website is taking a big hit now that the election is over. When there was trivial tit-for-tat juvenile gotchas going back and forth between the two campaigns, I had a slew of traffic. Now, not so much.

Now that Obama is talking brass tax -- and not the emotionally inspiring speeches that made us all pay attention -- will we be able to keep the populace engaged. Not the people here on DU. The ones the insiders call "low information voters". What can we do to keep them clicking and reading on the blogosphere because the mainstream media is not the place we want them to get all of their information from.

Any ideas?

1. Like the Red Sox, elections of this magnitude only occur once in a lifetime

2. I love that
"... brass tax."

People who like dish and snark don't visit sites for solid, intellectual information unless they're doing research papers. I know that's a rather cynical view, but there are always going to be "low information voters" - a very, very kind appellation if ever there was one - and I can't for the life of me how you get hard and true material into their heads unless you hide it in a spoonful of applesauce.

6. Hell, no! The battle is over.
We are settling into a post-election funk now. Snipers are still out there but the Generals have gone back to their families. The onlookers are becoming bored with the lack of a spectacle and will soon be watching the sitcoms and football games as if nothing has happened.

7. Faux News should be the outlet of concern when it comes to lies & disinformation.
It might be a good idea to have a comparison chart as a regular offering in each issue. Each month, compare Obama's agenda in one column with that of the boy king at the same time of his first term on another column; then provide two columns for Faux News, each depicting what was (mis)reported about each president, at the same duration point into their presidencies.

9. The phrase is "talking brass tacks", not "brass tax". Or is he thinking of a new
tax on metals?
