Anybody else feel depressed now that it's over?
I can't get rid of this deflating feeling that the greatest historical moment of our lives has just happened. I want it to be around 10pm November 4th again and again, when we were on the anticipatory cusp of ecstasy. The feeling that something of that magnitude will never happen again is really getting me down. I just feel so empty now.

1. Well, of course. Actually fixing the crap that's been dumped on this nation for eight years isn't
as much fun as the campaign!

5. I thought maybe it was apost-coital depression
from all those years of being screwed by the Bushies.

3. yep
I get that way after birthdays and holidays and anything exciting. It really sucks because my birthday was Monday. On Tuesday I was trying to get over the post-birthday blues. I did long enough to be happy about the election but then I got post-birthday & post-election blues. I always feel a bit embarrassed and foolish for getting so sad after events while other people are still happy.

6. HELL NO!!!
For eight years I've been waking up knowing that George Bush was president, and there would be nothing to look forward to or that nothing good was going to happen to the U.S. as long as he was still president.

Now, I wake up in the morning and I know his reign is almost over and I can look forward to the future here.

7. No. I actually have a wonderful sense of peace.
I'm so thrilled that we still have a democracy, and that we now have a chance to fix the mess Bush made. I've been so angry, and got even more angry every time the Bush administration did something cruel, stupid, or just plain wrong.

10. Not me
This afterglow is permanent. I'm going to feel this happy at every single step we take forward, every rotten Bush Co. policy that gets undone. We haven't even had the inauguration yet, and you guys are already down?

14. The excitement is gone and the peace has settled in.
I think our economy is going to get worse for a while and if anyone can turn this country around, it's President-elect Obama. When I thought about it before the election, I was filled with anxiety but not anymore.

16. Not depressed, but I miss hearing his voice every day.
Watching the campaign speeches had become part of my daily routine. I did feel sad after the last speech in Manassas, VA...but the "high" of the election overcame that.

17. You have good government to look forward too. Imagine one issue after
another being solved if not improved. Sure it was a high when Obama won. But the whole reason for the joy is the stuff he will do EVERY DAY FOR THE NEXT 8 YEARS. Now that is something to look forward to.
