1. Some of the above, and Other
bu$h definitely made this possible and McCain couldn't run a campaign if his life depended on it.

Palin was sure an asset to the Obama campaign.

The bigger credit goes to the Obama campaign organizers, the staff and the volunteers they assembled.

But it was we the people who spoke on Tuesday and we spoke very loudly.

7. Ain't it true?
But I think without Dean, a good few of those electoral votes would have gone the other way (eg NC). I'm leaning toward All of the Above myself, though for some odd reason I never vote in my own polls.

2. That's not a trivial question.
I cast my vote for Obama, because even though the other factors play a role, I'm convinced now that it took Obama to win this. We probably would not have won with Clinton or Edwards, or any of the others vying during the primaries, as our nominee.

That's not a knock against those fine candidates, it's an acknowledgment of how well entrenched the conservative political machine really is, and what it took to defeat it this time.

Think about it for a minute: the GOP fielded a shoot-from-the-hip flake, and allowed him to put an unvetted nutball at the bottom of the ticket, and they STILL managed to keep us biting our nails until Ohio was announced. In a sane world it wouldn't have even been that close.

Thank you again, President Obama. Had you not remained calm, clear-headed and focused all those months, I doubt we'd be having these nice little post-game chats today.

3. Judging by the rate of descent toward the archives, apparently it is
:P

GOP slander machine has been in place for decades now and is reasonably well-oiled. In a sane world, no one would have ever had to contemplate the concept of a President George Walker Bush (or for that matter, Ronald Wilson Reagan).

4. It's got a lot of company in the archives.
As for the insanity of a Preznit Reagan, I hope that the slandering of Palin these days puts to rest the notion that being a Governor instantly confers magical "Executive Experience," since it should be clear that just about any idiot can be boosted into a Governor's mansion.

5. I think Olbermann changed things
when he started making his "Special Comments."

8. Certainly started something; not sure anybody but people like us were watching at first
but maybe internet viewership expanded that.

Be funny if O'Reilly started doing special comments, wouldn't it?

9. I think the corporate media took notice right away
even if the "live" audience was initially small.

14. doubt it
Olbermann is no different than O'Reilly, Hannity or Limbaugh. He gets what, 1 million to 2 million viewers. 120 million or more people voted. He is mostly preaching to the choir.

16. his comments opened the way for overt criticism of the neocon cabal in the mainstream media
I didn't say he won the election. I said he changed things.

13. Bush's phone call
I understand that, when bush called President Obama to congratulate him on his win, the President Elect replied (are you ready for this?)

"Thanks, I couldn't have done it without you!".
Don't know if it's true or not, but I can hope!
