Hey DU! an e-mail I just got from Ohio's Sec. of State Jenny Brunner

In Ohio it is the LAW you can vote on paper!

She is a friend of mine and has got death threats and all kinds of crap from the right
but when I asked her about paper ballots and public service annoucements about
the vote this is what she sent me.


Hi Tom,
There are signs that must be prominently posted and we have included instructions on backup paper
ballots in poll worker reference guides that will be at polling places.

We're rolling out radio PSAs tomorrow featuring John Glenn that mention the right to request a paper
ballot "whenever and wherever you vote, even if your county uses touchscreen machines . . ."

The number of early voters is phenomenal! I love democracy. Have a great night.

6. Wasn't Brunner the one who made it the law?

Right after her election didn't she get the state to sign on to the No-Fault Absentee ballot initiative? People could vote absentee at will and did not have to give any reason why they wanted an absentee ballot.

When you ask for paper at the polling station, what they hand you is this absentee ballot. A sneaky way of being able to vote on paper. Several states have used this maneuver, it is the one which also allows for early voting. By voting early one is using the Absentee ballot.

I think the polls are going to get smashed this time around. Some people have waited entire lifetimes for this vote.
