22. I'm glad you asked!
I've been thinking about this for years! Years, I tell ya!

I'm not a scientist or a doctor, but I believe that there is something fundamentally wrong with most conservatives - in a physiological sense. It's almost like a form of retardation and the inability to spell is just one of the symptoms. I'm' thinking that one day we'll discover that it is something as simple as their mothers not getting enough potassium while they they were carrying them. Some of them can be "trained" to spell better - but it's a most basic "tell" when you're dealing with a typical right winger.

There brains have gaps where they shouldn't and make connections were they shouldn't. They're "wired" just slightly off.

Who among us here hasn't been able to accurately "guess" a persons political affiliation based on their spelling? Just the other day I saw a common right wing mis-spelling of "loser" here as "looser". And knew before I even clicked that they were going to have a low post count.

63. heh It's kind of funny that you have so many misspelled words
in your post.

I know, I have a low post count and probably shouldn't point that out but it hit me as funny.

I think some people are simply better spellers than others and political affiliation doesn't matter.

65. I know!
And we have a spell checker underlining every one in red to let me know while I'm misspelling it too! LOL

I'll grant that nobody is going to ever hire me as a writer - and yeah, both sides have bad spellers. There's a pattern to theirs is what I think was being keyed on in this post. I may mis-spell a word, you may mis-spell a word, but they're probably not going to be the same word, the same way.

It's almost like most right wingers went to an alternate school with an alternate dictionary.

Why do so many of them spell loser "looser"? Moron "moran"? Ridiculous "rediculous"? Maverick "mavrick"?

Oh, and welcome to DU! I wasn't hatin' on the low post count people, not even the one I referenced in my post. I didn't follow them around to see if they were "posing", a recent convert, or just a bad speller like me who just coincidentally happened to spell loser like a freeper.

English 'mattered' in school. Many years ago, I was working on a project where we were writing up huge computer system manuals before actually writing the system, and this one guy who was a lousy writer said to me 'well, I wasn't an ENGLISH MAJOR'... and another team lead I had basically said the same thing - like only the technical writers could write well. Since when did being able to write well become something that only 10% of people can DO? I don't know, but it's pathetic.

61. Throwbacks to the 17th century when 'standard' speling was unknown and ...
... the more 'educated' folk took some degree of stylistic pride in spelling words according to some linguistic or ethnic affiliation. It wasn't until Dr. Johnson published the first English language dictionary that the idea of a 'standard' for spelling achieved some purchase among the lettered folks.
