The parents who teach their kids this stuff are the sick ones

Is Barack Obama a terrorist? The smiling woman answers: "He's got the bloodlines. Just think about the name. The name says it all."

And there's your chill-down-the-spine moment for the day. Yes, there are people who really believe Barack Obama is a terrorist. Just think about the name. That name says it all.

A couple of videos under the title "The McCain-Palin Mob" have well over 1 million hits apiece on YouTube and have been in heavy circulation among e-mailers. Tim Russo of bloggerinterrupted.com shot the videos at a McCain rally in Strongsville, Ohio.

Prodded by questions such as, "Do you think Barack Obama is a terrorist?" these fine citizens offer a variety of stunningly ignorant comments, including:

"I think he's a one-man terror cell."

"He's got the connections. Look at his name."

"He's friends with terrorists."

"Sarah's a normal American . . . Barack is a politician. A seasoned politician."

"I think he's a communist and a Marxist. I think he was indoctrinated by the teachings of his father."

And this one, from a child: "You need gloves to touch (Obama)."

2. The question I dearly want to see these ignoramouses asked is...
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 08:42 AM by TechBear_Seattle
If Obama is a terrorist, what does it say about the US government that he is walking around free? Why hasn't he been picked up yet and sent to Gitmo? It is not like we don't know where he is. I mean, COME ON! He is running for President! Could it be that the Republicans are LYING when they call Barak Obama a terrorist, and that he hasn't been picked up because these allegations are not true?

Of course, it will be a very cold day in Hell before anyone in the mainstream US media bothers to ask anyone such questions. :eyes:

3. Yes. Those attitudes are being sent from generation to generation
I keep thinking these people can't be for real, but they are still walking among us. They are your neighbors, co-workers, even fellow parishoners (if you're the type that attend religious institutions). It is so sad, and so frightening.

7. We've Come A Long Way, But Not All The Way
Don, I'm still fascinated that a woman and a black have become viable candidates in my lifetime. Growing up in the 60's and 70's, I saw change, but also a lot of resentment and hatred go underground. While no one say the "n" word in public, it still made the rounds "among friends". Thanks to integration and better understanding and tolerance from some in our society, many barriers have been brought down, but not completely. Remember, this is a nation where divisions are encouraged and exploited by politicians and for the Repugnicans, racism, in specific, has been the glue that's held many of this corrupt party's factions in that "big tent" of Ronald Raygun's.

Be assured, there will be people who should vote for Obama who won't due to his skin color. They are just so inbred with racial stereotypes and stigmas that they will gladly vote against their best interest. A great majority of these are Repugnicans and wouldn't vote for a Democrat no matter what, but the racial factor surely has to come into play. If anything, it's a reverse Bradley effect as people here keep wondering why Obama doesn't have a 20 point lead...maybe the answer is that there are a diehard 25%...predominately Repugnicans...who hold the most viral racist leaning as well.

To Senator Obama's credit, he's run a smart and efficient campaign. I credit some of this to people like Axelrod being involved with the late Mayor Harold Washington and his ability to beat both the Democratic machine and then a very racist repugnican...organizing and uniting minorities with us "Lake Shore Liberals". He's also like Jackie Robinson in not letting the opposition see him sweat. He's joked he's heard worse things on a basketball court and won't bite at the taunts or play their game. The more trash they heap, the cleaner he comes out...and he's letting his poise and words speak...the political equivelent of hitting .350.

If anything, my hopes are this election breaks the back of a lot of residual racism in this country. No doubt we not only can have a black, but a woman or Jew or even, dare I say, gay, as President. It's a gradual change, but a change that both is good but one that won't be met without resistance.

Cheers...

12. My middle name is French
But I am not French and neither are any of my ancestors. My parents named me after my dad's sister and her parents just thought it was a pretty name.

Hussein means "beautiful". Perhaps Barack's parents thought he was beautiful?
