In air combat pilot lingo, the GOP ticket is now both "Winchester" and "Bingo."
"Winchester" means "out of bullets" or other effective weapons. Adm. Jim Stockdale used the term "Winchester" in the vice-presidential debates in 1992 (he was Ross Perot's vp candidate) when he was flummoxed by a question from the debate moderator. It was so much more classy than Sarah Palin's evasions and equivocations. Stockdale's "I'm Winchester" was heartfelt and honest, yet funny at the same time.

"Bingo" refers to a low fuel condition. "Bingo fuel" means that the aircraft has enough fuel to RTB (return to base) or RTC (return to carrier).

McCain and Palin are out of ammo, ideas, and JP-4. It's time to return to the carrier before they get shot down or flame-out. There ain't no Brown Anchor (South China Sea KC-135 tanker) to help them out now.

McCain and Palin: the high priest and high priestess of the Winchester Cathedral.

"GOP-1 flight is RTC
Winchester and Bingo Fuel!"
"Two"

6. So how long till "broken arrow"?
...Because I want to watch when it lands inside their perimeter.

I loved "We were Soldiers", but found it interesting that they ended the movie while still in the "happy" part of the book...

7. Only the "good guys" can call "Broken Arrow."
Why didn't Hal Moore run for President? Or, better yet, Joe Galloway?

11. You Tex...
...Are my kinda guy. You know it and have been there. You know it and "been there, done that"

You (plus 11 Bravo and a couple of others) are one of the few that truly got it down. Thank God they never sent my ass there to fuck up (though they tried). My flaky ass did the condo army thing with the 4th ID at Carson...the true warrior in the family was my older brother who spent a year with the 10Insane in the A Shau...actually, Bravo, 2nd of the 506.

Nobody gets it anymore-you either faced it or didn't have to. I know I worked hard to avoid it. You did AND volunteered to do so...your balls are large and I revere them.

I know the others too. I'd hate to start naming them, because I'd forget somebody. And then there are the original DU crop who aren't here or are seldom here. Coral-Sea comes to mind. Johnyawl checks in occasionally (his wife was a delegate to the DNC in what, '04?) .. John was with the 3rd Marine Tanks in Hue, '68, IIRC.

On edit: You bro' was in the worst fucking place in Viet Nam! I used to watch NVA convoys in the A Shau at night .. so many trucks they didn't even run dark! The A Shau was a motherfucker.

19. Ya Know, let's also compare what they got for planes.....
I think we get McCain's F-4 Phantom right out of fuel, bombs, Sidewinders, bullets and with an engine out, straggling to return to the Forrestal. (Those know McCain's history know why I said Forrestal. The others should go look at Wikipedia to see why.) Palin sold her plane out of some idiotic budget-cutting idea and is sitting on the deck of the carrier wondering what the heck is going on.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama and Joe Biden just topped off their F-22 Raptors from the KC-135 called public opinion, with Sidewinders, AMRAAMs, smart bombs and machine gun rounds, ready to fly on to victory.
