CBS news may be sitting on a particular ly "juicy' interview clip of Palin
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/10/the-political-p.html

In a news release issued this morning, the network elaborated on the two questions posed to both vice presidential candidates that will air in a segment tonight. They were:

Why do you think Roe v. Wade is a good or bad decision? What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?

Thomas Jefferson wrote about the First Amendment "building a wall of separation between church and state." Why do you think that is so important?

Will this be another "gotcha" moment for Palin? We'll have to wait to find out until this evening, when the segment airs on "CBS Evening News." (A hint that CBS may be sitting on something juicy: unlike other installments in its "Presidential Questions" series, the network is not releasing a transcript of the candidates' answers before the broadcast.)

silence with the supreme court question. I can't wait to see it.

because she agrees with it.

7. Well, given what passes for "US history" among the dominionist crowd - ie David Barton and his ilk-
she'll say something about "the constitution says nothing about separation of church and state, that's all a myth" and "this country was founded as a Christian nation and we need to get back to our Christian heritage". Might also throw in the usual crap about how Christians are SOOOOOO discriminated against.

9. Palin: “It would be sexist if the media were to hold back and not ask me about my experience...
my vision, my principles, my values."

Just don't expect her to answer.

11. I hope CBS doesn't pull a New York Times
Remember 2006? The Times had some damning story about the Bush administration all set to go, but withheld it so as not to "influence" the election. Thanks for the attempted favor, Timesmen; too bad the Republicans still got crunched, munched, and sent out to lunch in 2006. Hopefully CBS doesn't feel similarly constrained to withhold pertinent facts and information about Sarah Palin so as not to "influence" the 2008 election.

In case anyone in a position to do something about it reads this, let me just remind our popular media folks that part of their job is to create an informed electorate, and that means doling out information no matter how stupid it makes a candidate look.

19. I think if CBS has been watching the ratings, it would be in their best interests ...
to air what they have.

Their ratings would skyrocket when they did.

People tuned in for the convention speeches, they'll tune in for this debate.

22. Fundie follies: Beware the rift between Christian fundies and the Jewish community
Palin is there to pacify the Christian fundies. That's a crucial base for McCain. But go too far with that and you will make the Jewish community very nervous.

Year, Palin can deliver the bible belt that was 100% red states anyway. But what if that is the factor that tips Florida to Obama? D'oh.
