3. There will still be 3 cars in front of the McMansion...
...belonging to the 3 families who share it.

7. Most of the victorians here were divided up into rentals ages ago.
You can get three or four decently sized apartments out of one, no problem.

8. That is a good idea. Would help with the cost of rental units. Only one problem... which rental unit
gets the hot tub?

A lot of duplexes, townhouses, etc have communal yards.

10. The McMansions can work in the same way.
Just e-mailed my under-employed brother, and told him that, if things get as bad as they're predicting, he's welcome to stay here.

13. Family first. You have the right attitude. Nice of you to make the offer to your brother. I'm sure
he really appreciates it. And even if he doesn't take you up on it... you have added to his sense of security in these scary times.

15. Who's your brother voting for?
I would hope your underemployed brother is an Obama supporter.

19. My brother is VERY active in the DFL in MN. Has done union organizing,
community organizing for poor, minority churches...one of the most progressive people I know. Yes, a strong Obama supporter. Works for a conservation organization, but has had some health problems in recent years.

No phone, no lights no motor cars,
Not a single luxury,
Like Robinson Crusoe,
As primitive as can be.

They were an environmental disaster to begin with, and now we see that they were a financial one as well.
