Senate Voting On Economic Stimulus Package
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 11:36 AM by vpilot
Introduced by Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senator Byrd, they are voting to move the legislation forward. Looks like the RePukes are voting against it. It includes extending unemployment benefits, funds food assistance, State infrastructure funds, State Medicaid funds, and other things good for we the people.

1. "As you do for the least of these, you do for me...."
Put your money where you mouth is, republics.

Interesting that this vote is held at this time.
They should end the Congress on this vote.
Come back AFTER the election.

2. Sorry, we the people just didn't get
enough yes votes to move this good legislation forward. It needed 60 votes and our Reptilian friends just couldn't bring themselves to support lending a helping hand to us peons. I think they had 52 yes votes, guess we will have to wait till next year. If you have a Reptilian Senator that voted against this, send them a note blasting them for being so fucking stingy with Main Street and so Generous with wall Street.

4. I don't know what Reid had in mind, but if
the Admin thinks we have 700 billion to bail out Wall Street why don't we have the 58 billion for this stimulus package that includes so many good things for Main Street average citizens.

8. Possibly Reid wanted to get this in before they recess
for the rest of the year, I don't know for sure but I want to think he was looking out for those collecting unemployment or more so for those who have run out of unemployment benefits.. They won't be able to re-introduce until the 111th Congress in January.

12. I think this is the point.
What a stark contrast between $700 billion to bail out reckless financiers as opposed to a modest $58 billion geared to helping the average beleaguered citizen. If Congress can't get $58 billion for Everyman, who the hell does Paulson think he is asking for a blank check for Wall Street?

10. What are they voting on? A basic outline?
They'll take a while to iron out the details... I'm curious what it is they're actually voting on.

Bill number?
