1. Thanks!
My Dad hadn't heard yet, so I called and explained it all to him before he heard, got freaked out and called me about it.

He's not crazy about Chase, so I think we'll be looking into other banks. I wish I could move him to my CU, but they don't do business accounts.

2. I'm a WaMu customer as well
I'm not terribly crazy about Chase but they're FAR FAR better than BofA (those crooks) and at least they have a ton of branches and ATMs here in NY.

Good luck finding a solution for your dad.

5. I just got off the phone with him.
He wants me to find "a reasonably local bank if there are any left." I guess he had a card with Chase years ago and was less than impressed with them, but he's relieved he doesn't have to rush around to find another bank, because that would play havoc with checks clearing and such.

9. NO WAY NO CHASE
I banked with Chase a few years ago and they charged a fee everytime I freaking sneezed! I'm officially looking for a new bank.

3. I'm getting tired of switching banks without switching banks.
No matter who I sign up with, I wind up with Chase, BofA, or Wells Fargo. :(

4. Thanks, HK. I no longer bank at WaMu, but MrSG does, so
I passed the link on to him.

11. We as your new overlords welcome you to the Chase family. Just some rules:
We will make your banking experience as painfull as possible, and consider all customers guilty and suspect in every transaction.

12. Of course, there is no mention of an interest rate increase on WaMu CCs.
When the dust settles, you just know they'll pull that trick out of their sleeve.

I've been banking at WaMu for about 10 years.

I still remember the WaMu flyer back then- Free checking with NO minimum deposit or mandatory direct deposit.

Just about every other bank requires you have direct deposit or carry a minimum balance.

13. I'm opening new accounts with another bank tomorrow.
And the day my debit card from the new bank arrives, the WaMu accounts get closed. All except the one that I can't close until 29 October. That one gets closed 29 October. I will never willingly do business with Chase again. Hell, I just moved those accounts to WaMu from Chase last year.

My only concern is my mortgage. I hope they sell it to anyone else.
