That is the outstanding public debt as of September 19th 2008 at 03:51:15 PM GMT.

http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

With the billions of dollars we have spent on Shrub and Shooter's illegal war of aggression in Iraq and now the billions we are spending in corporate welfare to rescue companies inspired by deregulation and rethuglican greed - we are now in the TRILLIONS $$$ in debt and climbing rapidly.

President Obama will inherit a debt that is so HUGE that most of us can't wrap out minds around it. Somehow, someway Americans are going to have to make big sacrifices to pay off the selfish and incredibly stupid arrogance of the Bush years.

Our children's children will be saddled with this and I wonder where and how Obama can begin to reverse this economic catastrophe? Fortunately, people (out there) are finally getting it that Shrub is asleep and the wheel, and his criminal regime will leave a legacy of economic disaster that all of us will be paying for a very long time.

How many miles would it be if we lined up 9 trillion dollars end to end?

I hope Americans understand that there is no easy way to balance the books when we are talking about filling a hole that is trillions of dollars deep. Canceling Shrub's tax breaks for big oil and revising the tax code is a start, but I don't think folks on main street USA really realize just how bad a hole Shrub has left for us to clean up.

Barack Obama has a task of unprecedented proportions - and there is no better person at this point in our history to begin to do it!

1. Can't we just seize the money Cheney funneled to Halliburton and pay that off?
