Looks like those Texas officials have backed down
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 02:32 PM by malaise
re people returning to their homes to salvage what they can. Word is that it will now be days and not weeks or months. Nothing like an election to make people's rights and common sense prevail. After all, the sooner people can disinfect their homes, the better in terms of permanent damage.

Lots of ground floors destroyed and people are already having insurance issues, mold issues and looters are coming in by boat to loot homes.
Mayor on now.

1. Some people from Bolivar had themselves a demonstration this morning
in Winnie, the place they were evac'd to.

Watch, FEMA is going to roll out some goodies today to distract from the search today. There's a FEMA guy announcing a hotel program for people still in shelters today.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but that's what it looks like.

The good news it that there are crews of volunteers from a LOT of places that have come in with supplies.

3. A few days could mean the difference between a cleanup and a demolition due to black mold.
I'm glad they made this decision, it may reduce a great deal of misery.

7. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaah Phil Gramm called Ron Paul and
asked him to endorse McPOW. I love the response. The last part of it - 'I could never support someone who says bomb, bomb, bomb Iran'.

10. The major just said the opposite
She said people would be allowed to return in a couple of days to collect stuff and clean their homes.
How can they let insurance agents in and not the owners. What happens when these goons steal people's stuff. This is madness.

12. The prog has been suspended. FEMA comes in this afternoon.
Maybe as soon as she's clear of Skeletor, she'll reinstate a L&L program? And, she's asked for a week and for patience.

The police say only 11 people have been arrested for looting so far.
