You don't make any money (inside your own household, let's say) if you charge your brother to do his laundry. HOWEVER, if you charge the 'Smith' family ~ across the street ~ to do their laundry for them....well, then you're bringing the Smith family money into your family money.

Now, what happens when the 'Smith' family and 'your' family are all within one great big 'happy' social family order......I dunno? Will it be 'for good' or 'for bad'?
