I think this elections is going to be the nastiest one of my life so far..
My mom said that she thinks I need to remove my bumper stickers (which aren't bad just Cant Wait till 2008 and McCain Bush 3rd term) because how nasty it is getting.. she also said that she had a Clinton sign on her lawn and the police told her she had the wrong sign up... she said that election was bad but no where near this one
Last election if some of ya ll remember I was holding my Kerry side and was being threated by men driving by in pick up trucks (oh and i was 7 months preggo)
Down here in the south its becoming NASTY...
A black man running against some religious nutjob...
this is going to get ugly and fast.. can you remember such a fight before? I am only 30 and I can not

1. nasty
I agree with you. In a close election, both sides will pull out the stops and dig up the dirt.

2. Southern liberals may be expecially vulnerable this year.
Those of us in cool blue parts of the Country have to keep this in mind. A Southern Lefty is really putting it out there for us in these times.

If we Southern libs can do it, certainly the rest of the country needs to and can stand strong also.

5. It's worth it.
Bowing under is not an option.
Abandoning hope is not an option.
Preaching defeatism is not an option.

This is the fight of our lives. We can do no less than give it everything.

6. I've got a few years on you
But 1988 was the most brutal, insipid presidential elections I've ever witnessed.

10. Well, with a little Rovian twist, it could get there
I mean, we do have a black man running for the highest office in the land, and 88 conjures up the images of the Willie Horton ad run by the Repukes. I'll have to really see the debates first before I can get a feel for it. In 88, Bush Sr. was going on about Dukakis being a "card carrying ACLU member" and took a shot at Dukakis concerning the tank picture. All during the debates! No issues, just put downs by Bush and the Repigs. So, yes, this one could very well be like 88. The debates will be very telling.

9. I'm not sure
I think 2004 could be nastier - hard to say just yet. But in 2004 they had a good chance of holding the white house and congress, this year, well, they don't have as strong a chance. The addition of Sarah Palin to the ticket has got the base worked up, but I'm not sure they will stay as worked up. Particularly if McCain starts talking about "reaching across the aisle."
