'Iraq and Afghanistan are sucking up resources at a faster rate than we planned for,' US general.
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/031207L.shtml

In a bleak analysis, senior officers described the fighters they were facing in Iraq and Afghanistan 'as smart, agile and cunning'.

In Vietnam, the US was eventually defeated by a well-armed, closely directed and highly militarised society that had tanks, armoured vehicles and sources of both military production and outside procurement. What is more devastating now is that the world's only superpower is in danger of being driven back by a few tens of thousands of lightly armed irregulars, who have developed tactics capable of destroying multimillion-dollar vehicles and aircraft.

1. How many invader nations have won against guerilla insurgencies?
Ten? Twenty? None? What are the odds here? Just since 1776. 1876? 1976?

2. If you phrase it that way we won't leave
Hell looking at that way, I'm not sure we should leave. I'd say, rather, that the situation in Iraq doesn't have a military solution but a diplomatic solution. And yeah it's not going to be win and roses, but it's the best we can do all things considered. You can't kill people into loving you.

3. bushco's 'wars' are black holes that are sucking 'US' into.............
the abyss. The longer 'we' stay, the worse will be the consequences for America and 'US'.

4. I thought these guys had to study military history

Did any of them ever read about the American Revolution (or American Rebellion for you Brits)? I don't think its that obscure.

A small, rag tag group of determined guerrilla fighters wins a war on their home turf against the world's mightiest army and navy? Ring a bell?

Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?
