A response in regards to a recent Rude Pundit posting

I have been posting the writings from the Rude Pundit's blog for over two years. While DU'ers have generally responded positively, there has been some who have taken umbrage at his writing style. Needless to say, I was surprised at the negative replies to my posting of his comments on Bristol Palin (really); that was the first time one of his writings has had a response like this.

This morning, I received an email from the Rude Pundit about it. Since he gave permission, I am posting his message in it's entirety below, without comment.

I'm writing this out of respect for Meegbear, who seems to have caused something of a shitstorm with the entry posted above regarding Bristol Palin's vagina:

The point is that Bristol Palin should have never been part of any goddamn discussion involving anyone but her family, but she was dragged into it by the shallow and power mad dual forces of John McCain and her mother.

Her mother is the one who spouted endless, worthless garbage about abstinence and abortion. And, like so much Republican ideology, it fails when applied to real human beings (including teenagers) and their real bodies.

Why her vagina? Because Bristol Palin has now been reduced to the sum of her girl parts. And it wasn't Democrats who did that. She is a walking uterus on her way to the altar with a guy who said he doesn't wanna get married and doesn't want kids. Mission fuckin' accomplished for the religious right.

By the way, in direct response to the comment on how easy it is to write dick and cunt jokes, hey - don't shit in my bed. You try to come up with dick and cunt jokes almost every weekday for five years.

The Rude Pundit is one of, like, 3 blogs I read daily, but I sometimes don't think about it until I see your posts - I think he's rude, alright, but 99.9999% of the time, his point is made with no uncertainty and no qualification and great perspicacity

Props to the Rude One for having the class to respond to that bullshit, even though it was absolutely unnecessary. As usual, the RP was dead on in this response, and to anyone that was offended by the original column, recognize that the author's name is "THE RUDE PUNDIT." If you're looking for fluffernutter to sugarcoat the delivery, go elsewhere.

For the record, I went back to the original posting, read Rude Pundit's piece and the various comments, including yours, and have the whole picture now.

While I quite understand where you're coming from, I actually agree more with Rude Pundit, who very vividly described how Palin wrongly and selfishly "believed that her personal ambitions were more important" than her daughter and her needs.

Mrs. Mooseburger's daughter was unwillingly thrust into the public arena by her selfish, domineering, power-hungry mother. Poor Bristol is in the very difficult position of being forced too young into motherhood and a marriage she obviously doesn't want -- because she and her boyfriend did what most teenagers do, but without the benefit of sex education and contraception, thanks to her mother's fundamentalist insanity.

Sadly, we cannot discuss Mrs. Mooseburger's ignorant, anti-choice, dominionist fanaticism and hypocrisy without also referencing poor Bristol as the unfortunate fruit of that environment.

Rude Pundit actually agrees with you (and me) that Bristol should be left alone. He just lives up to his moniker and says it very rudely. :D
