Do you get the feeling that no matter what bill or issue comes up that the ..
repugs will want a tax cut... If you mention anything in an interview with bush his anger begins to show if he thinks their will be a rise in taxes, and his favorite theme is "REMEMBER ITS YOUR MONEY" but it doesn't seem to be our money when it comes to something that helps the american people. It doesn't seem to be our money or we don't have a say in it when he wants to give to his friends and start wars, He can't ever seem to tell us where the 9 billion dollars of our money went in Iraq that is unaccounted for...

1. They're playing hardball politics in the sneakiest of ways
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 03:29 PM by Norquist Nemesis
I just heard on the radio that Bush's "plan" for the renewable energy that he touted in SOTU is...GET THIS!!!...He's submitted his budget and has CUT funds for this from their present levels.

My take on it is that now what he's going to do is play the "they just want to raise your taxes!" card. He's cut it in order to give the Cons some leverage that "Democrats don't want to control spending! Democrats don't want to balance the budget! They want to TAX you far above what the President is suggesting! The Horror!!! We told you so!"

5. One more thing...They are sandwiching the Democrats
The Min Wage Bill is a perfect example. They fillibuster and if/when it finally gets a vote, Bush vetoes, and there's not enough votes to override the veto. By July we will be hearing all about the "Do-nothing Democrats".

6. When he leaves office ...
all of the repugs will say he kept your taxes low, and the economy was booming(Not)who cares about a tax cut if they don't have a job, and why is there no talk about all of the outsourcing. I hear of plants closings and businesses laying off but only a blimp and all of the so called good news is in the stock market, where are all the voices about that...

7. For the GOP, "profit" means GETTING more and PAYING less.
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 03:44 PM by TahitiNut
They've got a Golden Goose: the working person paying taxes. From the GOP perspective, ONLY income from LABOR should be taxed. They don't want taxes on income from the DEATH of another. They don't want income from OTHER people's labor taxed. Only labor gets taxed.

On the flip-side, they are shoveling out massive amounts of dollars in OVERSEAS activities - WARS. How much is paid in taxes on dollars these companies get in Iraq??? (Probably NOTHING.)

It's an abomination. A total and complete abomination.

At the same time, they're doing absolutely everything they can to confiscate the Social Security Trust fund and dump it into the stock market. The GOP wants to eliminate FICA taxes on their $7,500/$15,000 health insurance deduction! They've STARVED the lowest paid workers for 10 years. The Trust Fund projections that show Social Security 'troubles' include assumptions regarding the minimum wage as it now sits. What they don't want people to comprehend is that it's the bottom 90% of WORKERS whose decreasing incomes are what's cascading over and threatening (secondarily!) the Social Security system. I say "secondarily" because it's really the prolonged impoverishment of the WORKING POOR that's showing up in the Social Security projections. The 'projections' are a canary in the mine shaft telling us that we're KILLING the working poor.

It's a total and complete abomination. And "Democrats" are going along with it.

:grr:

8. bush has been and continues to be the major player in the dismantling and destruction....
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 03:48 PM by Double T
of the middle class during HIS regime; preserving HIS precious tax cut FOR THE FILTHY RICH enables HIS followers, the robber barons, to continue their attempted wipe out of the middle class into the future. bush's tax cut logic is incoherent as SOMEDAY SOMEONE is going to definitely have to pay the deficit and debt bill due. The REAL economists have been silenced, BUT when THEY are allowed to once again speak the truth, it will already be too late. Ben Bernanke is already very concerned about where the USA's financial and economic 'titanic' is headed; there is much more than a global warming iceberg dead ahead.
