investigative reporters are heading to Alaska and they said that even top republican operatives are also saying that there is no way she was fully vetted and that McCain didn't even go through the local newspapers to find out anything about her and he said that there are a LOT of questions unanswered about Palin. Stephanopoulos seemed dumbfounded.

1. Works for me. Except that "Investigative reporter" part.
I don't think those exist anymore, at least not in army-form. Maybe there is a stray one here and there...

He fought off similar comments made by Senator Kerry, after he let Senator Graham say whatever he wanted. This nomination showed that the RW fundies were controlling McCain's choice.

11. I've taken to calling her the Caribou Queen.
I know, it's terrible of me. I am just so insulted that they would think that this woman would somehow replace Hillary in the minds of women voters. I am disgusted.

I will say, in my current state of analysis of Palin, any woman that would allow herself to be used to manipulate other women and insult the intelligence of women and, in particular, the intelligence and accomplishments of Hillary Clinton, is doing no favors to her gender. In fact, she is doing a disservice to women by allowing herself to be used. She knows what she is allowing herself to become. I don't respect her, I pity that she has such a low opinion of herself.

"throw away" offering. The repugs are TRYING to lose the election, leave a big mess for the Democrats to clean up.

When the inpossible job isn't finished in 4 years, they plan to run again and retake the WH. Sounds plausible. Karl Rove would absolutely have Palin checked out. I doubt is she slipped in under the radar, especially with her penchant for whistle blowing on fellow party members.

And ABC is "following the money" on the GOP Convention parties.

Ultra-Secretive Right-Wing Group Met In Minn. To Vet Palin

Last week, while the media focused almost obsessively on the DNC's spectacle in Denver, the country's most influential conservatives met quietly at a hotel in downtown Minneapolis to get to know Sarah Palin. The assembled were members of the Council for National Policy, an ultra-secretive cabal that networks wealthy right-wing donors together with top conservative operatives to plan long-term movement strategy.

CNP members have included Tony Perkins, James Dobson, Grover Norquist, Tim LaHaye and Paul Weyrich. At a secret 2000 meeting of the CNP, George W. Bush promised to nominate only pro-life judges; in 2004, then-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist told the group, "The destiny of the nation is on the shoulders of the conservative movement." This year, thanks to Sarah Palin's selection, the movement may have finally aligned itself behind the campaign of John McCain.

Ultimate consequence of allowing Bush/Cheney to steal and hold office, I suppose.

Back in the old days at least they were allegedly good at campaigning, if not at governing. Now they don't even bother to be good a campaigning.

Just where are they efforts focused now? Other than looting I mean.

for them for years on end. Their ranks become *filled* with people who would've been weeded out if there were any degree of investigation into their backgrounds. The kind of nonchalant carelessness that McCain has demonstrated in his pick is another symptom.

Arrogance and incompetence... that's what you get when a political party is given a free pass.

37. Video here
http://thepage.time.com/2008/09/01/asked-and-not-answered/

ABC News journo also says about 10 Republican operatives, including lawyers, are heading to Alaska for more background work on Gov. Palin.

Earlier: NBC’s Andrea Mitchell also reports that lawyers are headed to the 49th state for “a deeper vet.”

“They are sending a rapid response team of about 10 people that includes lawyers up to Alaska right now. They know there’s going to be an army of investigative reporters going up there, and they want to be ahead of it.”

“Some senior Republicans operatives outside the campaign say there’s no way they could have had a complete vetting with this kind of information coming out. Democrats say… the McCain campaign didn’t even go through Gov. Palin’s local newspapers.”

40. Apparently, she was vetted by James Dobson....
... and that's not a joke. According to Digby (via another DU reader whom I cannot credit because the server is going insane), Palin was researched by the evil overlord group, the Council for National Policy.

The CNP is a shadowy organization which puts sociopaths in touch with psychopaths and bible thumpers so that they can more efficiently fuck up the country. They seem to have done their background check in the same way they took their biology tests in high school: ask Jesus what he thinks and then listen to the voices in their heads.

Thus, the arrival of the real background checkers in Alaska yesterday and today to find out how crazy this poor person really is.

______________

I really have to reign in my schaudenfreude here. It's unseemly and shows me a dark side of myself with which I am uncomfortable. Nevertheless, THIS IS SO FUCKING AWESOME TO WATCH!.
