It seems as if FEMA and the POTUS may have learned from Katrina (that it could hurt their poll numbers even if it's poor people that die).

I'm not one given to prayers, but I pray that Gustav isn't going to be as bad as the people who know more than me about hurricanes are saying.

1. Geography lesson. That is not New Orleans
it's actually well to the SE. New Orleans will be significantly affected, but it's factually incorrect to say that the models are pointing to New Orleans.

2. I'd be more worried in South Western Lousiana and Texas
The models are all shifting WNW and I bet the next NOAA update says just that.

3. Storm surge
That's the problem. Surge is worst if it travels to the west of N.O.

4. Another geography lesson. The model tracks point to a landfall to the SW of New Orleans.

5. But isn't the NE quadrant of the storm the one that does the most damage?
Isn't that why people are worried that the storm is SW of NOLA?
