Ok people this is historic
And it tells us quite a bit of how power is shifting

Barak is from Illinois and Biden is from Delaware... these are two yanks, in the old parlance

McCain is from Arizona and Palin is from Alaska... that is the West

Anybody care to tell me where was the SOUTH left in Presidential Politics?

You guessed it... in the dust

So as much of a cynic as I am regarding how the "system" works, this is history

Oh and the choice from the part of McCain was to keep that energy flowing, she is connected to that industry, and touches on so many of their choice demographic

Now here is the question, will Rs vote for Palin? Yes, like 1944 those voting for this particular ticket are voting for the VEEP since they KNOW their man will probably not make it.

Oh and yes, we have a black man and a woman running... so yes, this shatters some barriers

1. For the last several election cycles
I have been enormously offended at the constantly repeated mantra that only someone from the south can win.

There is no one part of the country that is magic or owns the presidency.

And anyone who thinks McCain didn't mainly pick Palin because she's a woman, and he and his advisers think that former Hillary supporters will flock to them because Oh, Wow! Gosh! The Republicans have a WOMAN on the ticket! are guilty of the same fuzzy thinking that put Quayle on the ticket because he was young and handsome and would appeal to women.

5. Quayle's problem was that he opened his mouth and let his stupid show..

a phenomenon that most older woman are familiar with in some young good looking men.

Palin apparently does not have the stupid speech gene, from what I hear.

The Repugs picked her because they want the Anwar.

8. Indeed is is south of the M/D line...
So is Md. but Md was a border state which did not secede mainly because Lincoln surrounded the meeting where the vote was taken with troops. I'm not sure if Delaware was a slave state or not.
