4. It's one of those rare times it's an advantage to live about 20 miles north of Canada

CBC ... Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ... CBET from Windsor, Ontario

(The score is now 16 to 10 in favor of Brazil in the first set.)

6. Yup. Live and in color. Started at noon Beijing time, midnight here (EDT).
Look here ->> http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/Schedule/VO_2008-08-24.shtml

CBC is a really good alternative to NBC/MSNBC/USA/CNBC ... and usually has more intelligent 'color' commentary regarding the sport and the play. (Less 'People' magazine and more 'Sporting News.')

9. I used to go to University of Hawaii Men's Volleyball games just to see Clay Stanley spike the ball.
Everything he hit had the most incredibly powerful impact I've ever heard or seen. After that, everyone seemed boring.

10. He just scored as you posted. (In the second set.)
Awesome spike. Split the defense (found the pipe).

13. Well, I'm sure MSNBCNBCUSA will get around to selling advertising and showing the match in between.

I'm more impressed with the digs, I think ... I just don't know how they do it.
Like I say, we used to play in the sand in Viet Nam ... and I remember throwing myself in the sand to do a dig.
Doing that, and then getting up to volley was TOUGH. (And I was FIT in those days.)

14. I'm spoiled from years of watching women's volleyball.
They make it look so easy, but I remember PE in 7th grade and that volleyball hurt! I used to get red hands just doing an underhand serve.

15. They don't tape their hands for nuthin'. A ball going 100-130 km/hr can hurt.
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 11:58 PM by TahitiNut
May and Walsh are really a joy to watch (... and NOT due to their apparel). They're VERY good at only making movements that count ... no wasted energy. As a team, they're awesome ... better than any male teams I've seen.

Update: Clay Stanley just served an ace at 116 km/hr. (Wow!)

16. Its weird because I remember them as a setter and a middle blocker.
and in beach volleyball you have to do everything. I'm impressed how all around they are.

It's in "invisible" type, so highlight if you want to know.

The USA won the Gold medal, beating Brazil three sets to one!

So there. Results Here.

And how the heck did you do the invisible ink thing? Are you some sort of warlock?

Simple.

Oh... and NBC didn't show it so they could SELL advertising at higher rates than after midnight.

All the "spoiler vigilantes" merely get caught in the charade ... and serve the profits of NBC.

After all, it was a match worth watching. (And Canadian commentary is better. Not as much ridiculous hype.)

24. I watched it on CBC, then switched to NBC and didn't see it- so thought CBC was showing a rerun
I'm so glad I am able to receive the CBC! It never occurred to me that NBC would delay a Gold Medal competition with a US participant.

28. Yesterday evening on the news NBC were promoting the
4 X 400 ladies race wondering if Sanya Richards would redeem herself by anchoring the US team to gold. We were screaming with laughter here because we watched the race since morning. That is lying to the public.
