Poll question: Most important news story for the week (ending 08-22-2008)
Most important news story for the week ending 08-22-2008

Just an FYI: I will not be including announcements made this week, only events that happened this week. So, when Rachel Maddow's show starts, that's when I'll include it in the poll. Thank you for your patience.

Choice 1: the passing of Stephanie Tubbs Jones

Choice 2: Pakistan's president, Pervez Musharraf, steps down

Choice 3: California State Supreme Court rules doctors may not discriminate against gays and lesbians in medical treatment

Choice 4: the school shooting in Knoxville, Tennessee

Choice 5: Tropical Storm Fay

Choice 6: scientists produce blood in lab using stem cells

Choice 7: another person who works all day to put food on your plate died from heat-related causes

Choice 8: the GOP-controlled media still ignoring the anthrax debacle

Choice 9: some as-yet-to-be-announced event that may happen any minute now (check your Blackberry)

Choice 10: Other (please elaborate in reply)

As always, please forgive me for the stories I've forgotten, simply choose "Other" and post a brief description in the subject line. Also, if you're sick of the way the GOP-controlled media ignore important stories, please get this poll on the "greatest page" that way maybe one of them will see it. Thank you.

1. You'd think wth all those 24/7 "news" channels we'd have heard a
little more about SOME of those stories. .

2. I've been doing this for a few weeks now, and ...
...it's not hard at all to find 9 stories that the GOP-controlled media deems less worthy than some gossipy bullshit.

3. I vote #2 because this actually affects our foreign policy a great deal.
Any turmoil will adversely affect us if it is not handled properly. It looks like the Pakistanis might appoint someone more extreme and that's bad since Al Qaeda might be hiding behind Pakistan's borders.

5. Yeah, hence why the fact that Bush is not being scrutinized is bad for everyone.
It's just more opportunity for him to screw up and we'll only find out just how badly until the new President comes into office.
