Any Key West/South Florida DUers on line now?

What's the weather like for you at this time?

I'm a little bit east of Tampa and the sky is dark but no wind or rain right now.

1. it's raining on and off here in west palm beach - nothing major
not really windy or anything

we've had some intense downpours, but the roads are
clearing out nicely.

a lot of things are cancelled, though, including
school tomorrow.

hope we dodge the bullet.

3. I'm in Coral Gables (just S of the City of Miami). Raining hard, little wind.
Expecting more feeder bands later.

We're in a clear patch right now.

7. Were you there when Elena dawdled around offshore for 3 days?
I lived in Town n Country and lost a few shingles...refused the "mandatory" evacuation, Rocky Creek backed up right to the doorstep but didn't get into the house. No power but it was a kinda fun adventure. :D

Didn't move here until 1989. Did TnC flood? Wait...I think I know that answer.

17. Heh...some of it did but only a small part and not catastrophically.
Everyone else on my street went to shelters but I had a plan...parked my car on some high ground (Woodbridge School) and walked back down the hill to my house. I knew I could wade to it if things started getting terminal-weird. :D

15. I'm in Lakeland

I was here when those three storms went
through here in six weeks time in '04.

I didn't get any major damage out of them.
Blew a few shingles off the roof. Some tree damage.
The power was out for four days after Jeanne.

All I expect out of Fay is a lot of rain.

9. Not much here now either- a bit of rain, few gusts- I'm facing West
on the bay on Miami Beach. For a while the city was all clouded up and there was no visability but that was hours ago and now it actually looks pretty clear. I can see some clouds around however- but it's difficult to tell if it's over or we'll be having more feeder bands through the night.

19. What freaks me out is that Sanibel is under a voluntary
evacuation while here in Pinellas we are under a mandatory Level A evacuation starting at 6 a.m tomorrow. Makes no sense to me.

21. Correct me if I'm wrong ....

... seems like not too long ago, I don't remember which storm, but Pinellas County order an evac and the storm veered away at the last moment and Pinellas was unscathed. Then another storm came shortly thereafter and they weren't so quick to call an evac and ended up with egg on their collective faces. If it happened that way maybe they don't want to take any chances this time around.
