Dear Elizabeth, my heart to yours.
I've been trying to keep my fingers to myself and not type about this, but I have to say something.

For the record I'm very upset that John did what he did. I was an JE supporter, now I'm an Elizabeth supporter instead.

Instead of talking about John Edwards I want to talk about Elizabeth. A stronger women I've never had the pleasure to know about.

I'm agonized over her pain, as a victim of infidelity myself (This is my second marriage) I know just how hard it is to try and work through something like this.

The loss of her son, Cancer, the grueling schedule of the primaries, the children to care for. Especially with how long they were married make no mistake this is a pain she's STILL working through today. And now the dogs of the news channels are howling for more scandal.

Elizabeth, you make me even more proud to be a woman. It takes an unknown strength to try and keep your family together instead of turning and running for divorce. Many times the pain of it is just too much for most to bear, thank you for showing us all that you have the will and the desire to stay with the man you love. Your example reminds us that there are so many important things in life if we just have the courage to see the bad times through.

My heart to yours Elizabeth,
MoF

4. She was an enabler in his deception
of the people who supported (in some cases) not only him, but her -- as they were a political team.

7. What did she know and when did she know it.
I appreciate loyalty, but if she knew at the time he declared then this was unfair to many many people.

It matters.
It matters.
It matters.

10. Right. If he was delusional and egocentric, she should have provided
the adult supervision and the political savvy that would say that such secrets were going to be found out. So first come clean and then, see if you have any supporters.

For the ones who talk about McCain - his voters knew about his past.

8. Sorry, she knew about this and supported his campaign
She's an enabler. She may be smart cookie and and inspiration, but its time for both of them to get lost and let the party's work progress.

9. Oh for heaven's sake, she's as guilty as he is when standing
by her man while he's lying to people who contributed to his campaign and the rest of us.

11. She's worth 1000 of him although that's probably little consolation
right now.

Support and empathy is what she'll be needing right now, maybe a good divorce lawyer too - if not an experienced matrimonial counsellor.

What a horrible mess.

12. Both John and Elizabeth chose this current pain. If it was over in
2006 and the baby is not his, the matter would have been kept completely quiet, if only he hadn't run for president. But they decided to run and be in the public eye and take donations from an unknowing public.

I don't think it necessarily follows that they aren't sincere in the things they would like to do for the country.

I do think they're both smart enough to know that this would come out and possibly cost us the election. That is the part that is hard to forgive. This election is too important.

I'm left with some unanswered questions. Did the press give John a pass on the affair? Did they not cover his campaign as much because they knew this was out there? How many people across the country supported Edwards and how many of them would have supported other candidates if he had not run, or if this news had come out before the first caucus and primary votes? How much money went to him that could have gone to another candidate?

And finally, how many people out there are now disillusioned with democrats or with politics in general?

13. Personally, I wouldn't stay in my marriage if the trust is broken. But I can't fault Elizabeth
or anyone who decides to stay and work it out. Who am I to judge anyway? I have a friend who left her husband 2 different times for cheating in their marriage but they've worked it out and have been together for almost 20 years and have 3 beautiful kids. Also, when Hillary stayed with Bill when she was humiliated so, I was amazed that she stayed with him, but again, who the hell am I to judge? It's none of my business in the first place anyway.

Also, I just watched John Edwards on Nightline on YouTube and I have NEVER respected him more after watching that video. He asked Elizabeth to not be part of the interview because he wanted to do it on his own and face it all on his own. I love him for that! Because I've always hated it when public officials who have cheated make their wives stand next to them when they are talking about it to the press. To me, that's like saying the wife is okay with it and that it was no big deal, when it really was. John showed great respect and consideration for Elizabeth by keeping her out of it and taking all the hits himself.

14. Oh Dear God, Elizabeth Edwards is not the only woman who has ever been cheated on
She has already gotten over it based upon her statements.
