3. I think either would be appropriate...
So many people get all nutso when a Republican talks about the Democrat Party...

don't give them the satisfaction of letting them get you all worked up over this...tell them your proud to be a Democrat.

Grammatically speaking I believe that there is no real problem with either Democrat or Democratic although perhaps Democratic might sound nicer to the ear.
