New source of retirement income.
T.J. Maxx is paying off like a broken slot machine.

They had a computer glitch a couple of weeks ago.
My wife bought some stuff there for $18.41.
I'm looking at my Discover account online, and I see that charge, and two more identical charges the next day.
So we've been charged $55.23 for $18.41 worth of mdse.

I call Discover.
They tell me I should contact the merchant first and try and get it corrected.
Duh. Shoulda thought of that.

I'll take it up the next morning.
Before I can, I get an email from Discover that I've received a merchant credit for $18.41.
Well that takes care of one of the overcharges, but not the other one.

Miz t. calls the store. They're very apologetic. Yes, they had a computer foul up. If she'll come in they'll get it straightened out.
Damn. That's 30 miles away. Gas is still near $4 a gallon.
Does she really have to come there?
Yes, sorry, but that's the only way they can clear it up.

She goes the next day and returns with the other credit.
All even now.

And this morning I get two more emails from Discover.
You guessed it. More merchant credits.
So now we have the mdse., and credits for $36.82
At this rate I may be able to pay off the mortgage in a year or two.
;-)

1. Maybe you shouldn't announce that over the internet.
Given the laws that have been passed over the last few years, T J Maxx can probably recoup triple damages from you. I hope you get to keep the money. :)

2. The way I figure it....
they owe you for the gas you had to purchase to appear before them to fix the error they made.

Sounds like a wash to me... :D
