Okay, this word "whine".

And "whiney". K?

Politically, it's meaningless. Lets translate it, shall we?

"You argument is wrong because you're arguing with me, which I don't like, so you must be wrong."

That's it. That's what it amounts to.

There's a lot of use of that word (and others like it, exchanged for it for the same purpose), more of it recently on this message board.

It's a waste of time. The so-called "whiners" are not going to stop "whining" whether they are republicans OR democrats. Neither side cares about being called a "whiner".

Interestingly, this one is used a lot against "partisanship", which seems ironic given that the sentiment, i.e. "You're arguing with me so you must be wrong" is one of the most weaselly, partisan things you can do.

There may be some mileage in interpreting it as "You're attributing more importance to the subject than you have a right to." This works better from our side and worse from theirs, because of the difference in approach to policy. They can only aggrandise themselves, the moment one attempts to take the world seriously it becomes clear that one's allies in this approach are Democrats.

The flip-side of "whiner" is "ignoramus". A person not attributing sufficient importance to an issue of some significance is usually ignorant of it if not willfully ignorant of it.

It may be amusing to turn the terminology of the Opponent against itself, but it cheapens us and, if we're not careful, tricks us into habits of thought that resemble their twisted internal excesses. Everybody already knows their priorities are screwed. We don't need to point out that they're "whining". It's worse than that. They're GIBBERING. Nothing they say makes any sense.

We don't need to pick up their dirty little toys.

2.  Whine includes the idea of pettiness--that's why the word is correct.
DUers saw McCain going on and on about every thing Obama did. McCain is a whiner to the nth degree. There are other words that could be used and that would be correct but quite politically incorrect.

Anyway, here are other words/phrases to describe McCain's whinig : b*tch, nag, on the rag, anal.

Sadly, McCain himself got off the rag and showed us that he was really nothing more than a liar. (That's not whining, thats a fact.)
